    Google should've really just named it Pixel 5a instead. It's not really a successor to Pixel 4.

      It's a wise choice to replace that trash with an ultrawide sensor.

      It would have been even wiser to add a third camera to offer both ultrawide & telephoto (at least 3x optical). But Google has never been that wise.

              With the Pixel 4, Google attempted to enter in the high-end components game but they failed: The biometric authentication system, which cost them a lot is a real success but not compatible with the business where all manufacturers are looking to decrease their costs.
              The SD 855 is also really efficient and powerful and we just have to take a look on what Microsoft did recently with this SOC and we see this platform is really great.

              Currently, I think their choice to downgrade on mid-range components will not be the best way to permit to Pixel devices to be considered as a first choice, but they're target with these devices is simply to sell services and it's really understandable especially with COVID times, they have to find back cash without heavy investments.

An ultra wide angle camera can not capture the details of a tele camera, but a tele camera can capture the field of view of an ultra wide angle camera, when you take multiple photos. So a tele camera can replace an ultra wide angle camera, but the opposite is not possible. Furthermore the Pixel 4 and Pixel 3 already had ultra wide angle selfie cameras, which could be used as a rear camera.
                Moreover, it already has a wide angle camera. Wide + tele is a better compromise than wide + ultra wide. Try Apple's iPhone 11. The image quality of Apple's ultra wide angle camera is terrible. A lot of distortion and a lot of noise, unless you take a photo in perfect light conditions.
                Most people also don't know that usually tele cameras capture more light from distant objects than ultra wide-angle cameras, so theoretically, taking an ultra wide-angle panorama with a tele camera could deliver much higher image quality.

                  Snapdragon 865 phones get atleast 2 major updates and if your bootloader us unlockable even untill End of life

                      Terrible battery capacity again. 4000mAh should be the new minimum standard...

                        I thought google said they went for telephoto camera because that is what "people" wanted? This phone feels like what pixel 4 would have been if they went for ultrawide and downgraded soc.
