TSMC announces plans for 2nm chipset factory

25 August 2020
It has already acquired land in Hsinchu, Taiwan, will hire 8000 new employees in the R&D department.

Companies generally want to spend the least amount possible and get as much money as they can. AMD fell really far behind. Why would Intel spend the extra R&D money when they didn't need to. Thankfully they now need to. This means better products for all of us.

Intel doesn't even have clear plans for 7nm, unbelievable.

@DJ, I totally disagree with you. Do you know Intel 10nm is just joke, it is even worst as compared to their own 14nm. Do you know Intel 10th gen i7 beats Intel 10 gen i9. Intel 10 gen 10nm process was made in hurry.
Also you can't say that Intel performance will always be good as compared to AMD for all thier process and why not AMD (backed by TSMC) can't provide superior performance compared to Intel. Things change with respect to time.

the tech nerd, 26 Aug 2020yeah that's true ,even zen 3 will make them look real ... morewell actually, intel has good performance, but bad at power consumption(cause of that 14nm arc). if intel develope its 7nm, im sure amd will be knocked quite bad. i can tell that because intel 14nm the 10th gen almost have the same performance with zen 3. but the problem is that the power consumption is bad. especially the higher series. i would take R9 3950x rather than i9 9xxx or i9 10xxx cause the power consumptiopn is big. almost 50+ watt or more than ryzen 3950x (190+ vs 120+ {toms reviewe}).
