It's very un-usua... moreJust a business, Snapdragon have best SoC 865 but with highest price due to external 5G modem and not integrated sot it's not cheep. MT have integrated chipset dim1000+ with price less then SD865. That y SD forced to have SD860 chipset to compensate Dimensity 1000+ . I hope Dimensity 1000+ and SD860 will match their performance very close. Sd865 will be far from dim1000+.

            It's very un-usual move for Qualcomm
            I still think it might be SD 775 or 780.

                  The base variant with the Dimensity chipset looks much better specification wise. Also makes a huge difference in the price of the smartphone.

When an announcement was made regarding an incoming 4G phone, you can safely assume this is a phone of no consequence.

                    This "disheartening" contrast between 5G phones and 4G phones will only be amplified further in the coming months.

We are not concerned with the general 5G infrastructure development in individual countries. These are two different topics. The development of 5G smartphone market follows a different kind of "logic" than that of the development of 5G service in individual countries. Our contention is this: The transition to 5G smartphone market will be way ahead of the transition to 5G service in most countries. Or put it more explicitly, the development of 5G smartphone market will be in sync with only select countries, but will be out of sync with most countries. Why don't we wait it out and see what happens to the smartphone market in 2021.

                      With respect to higher power consumption of 5G modem:
                      A 5G modem in operation typically consumes more power than a 4G modem in operation. For a 5G smartphone used in a 4G market, this issue is addressed as follows:
                      - The 5G components of the modem can be turned off by default.
                      - A 5G smartphone comes with a superior power-management of its antenna-modem operation which allows for a more nuanced power-down/power-up. At least in this narrow aspect, a 5G phone is more power efficient than a 4G phone.
                      - The thermal efficiency of the 5G modem is being improved upon with newer SoCs.
                      - With the help of software developed by Meizu at the OS level, Meizu 17 (5G smartphone) can operate in a 4G environment more efficiently than a typical 4G smartphone in the same environment. (Lab results shown at the Meizu 17 launch event.)

                        Realme appears to be among the first phone-makers to have full coverage of the low-to-middle 5G markets, as follows:
                        - a new phone (V series), with D720, priced at 900CNY ($128), to be launched in September.
                        - V5, D720, 1399CNY ($200);
                        - X7, D800U, 1800CNY ($257);
                        - X7 Pro, D1000+, 2100CNY ($300);

                        Another rumored new phone (Dimensity 600, $100) will be forthcoming in October.

I inform about 5G before write this. Many countries will take years, not months as you say, to implement 5G. In addition many of these countries are adapting 4G with parameters to be virtually compatible with 5G and give the user a feeling of more speed but it is only an enhanced 4G for 5G users, so little speed really. The change of 4G-5G transmitter search makes the consumption increase by 20% more battery in that search, this mean must to change this actually chips to other betters and brands are working on it actually. Samsung for example writes it on their website and others do too about the consumption of the 5G. The current 5G network is up, it will not be the final one and many of the 5G terminals sold now will be depleted in the future with the final implementation of 5G. 4G is not dead, 5G is a newborn baby being formed.

                                      It is important to remind everyone: The transition to 5G smartphone is irreversible, regardless how 5G infrastructure is shaping up in many legacy 4G markets. This transition will be complete and total in near future, in months, not in years. 5G will be the new default. All new SoCs (mid-ranger and up) from MediaTek and Qualcomm will come with integrated 5G. ("5G premium" is disappearing as we speak. All new 5G phones will be used as "better" 4G phones in legacy 4G markets. 4G users with 5G phones will not pay extra for unused features.)

                                      4G is dead in the sense that all new developments will be directed towards 5G.
