26 August 2020
The slowdown of the Indian market in Q2 of 2020 didn't spoil Xiaomi's quarter.

don't worry they will loose every market now and work only in chinese market but there is also a strong competitor i.e Huawei
We don't need Xiaomi low quality cheap phones.

Anonymous, 27 Aug 2020European has higher income compare to Asian, you can't... moreWhy not? Why should I paid more for the same product? Cause Asians have lower salary? Make it higher like Europeans if u can. We want same treatment for our money.

xiaomi is selling like cakes in europe ,this phone will surprass iphone and huawei

[deleted post]Is that some sort of joke ? Let's take India and UK. The one plus 8 pro sells for 55k INR when you convert that to Great British Pounds that's £562, but the phone in UK actually sells for £800. Phones in certain counties are cheaper than others because of a lower salary. I understand there's tax you have to consider when buying phones but a £232 difference in both phone, your countries economy plays a part in mobile phones

Anonymous, 27 Aug 2020I think what made Xiaomi popular in Europe is the price : a... moreDepends on their customer and software support on long term basis. Now, that support is not that good. Also, other things (like some users here mentioned), many of their models do not even arrive to Europe or international markets.

Imo, they had such a quick growth, because of their prices and because they flooded the market with model after model. Of course when you see "1000" models from the same brand on the shelves, you will try one at some point.
Another cause of their success, could be the declining of Huawei/Honor in Europe, because of the US ban. Not so many Huawei models in Europe right now (to purchase in stores), maybe half than what it used to be.
But as I said, this Xiaomi approach to things (make them cheap, make many of them), is good on short to medium terms. In long terms, it remains to be seen, how they can handle it.

Also, in Europe the majority of phone owners are still Samsung and Apple. And even though they both have their weaknesses, I think the majority of people are still satisfied and pleased with their phones.

Anonymous, 26 Aug 2020Xiaomi must go all out efforts on Europe and Latin America.... moreLatin America is where it's at. If they launched there, people will choose them over Motorola and this way, Motorola will have to become more competitive, otherwise they'll lose their marketshare.

Yet we still get ads and promoted content on their expensive mi 10 phones, where this year they've increased the prices to reflect on its premium status
I know we can turn it off, but that shouldn't exist on their flagship phones anymore, since the price is almost the same as other flagships

I think what made Xiaomi popular in Europe is the price : as a Frenchman, before the arrival of Xiaomi we didn't have lots of choice : Samsung, Apple, LG, etc... But Xiaomi came in and crushed the price/performance ratio of every smartphone, that made quickly Xiaomi a very popular company in France. Even now with prices a little higher, it manages to beat a lot of original brands, and we don't have lots of problems with private data with Europe's laws (RGPD for example).

So it's not really a surprise to see it doing really well in Europe, because of the high price for performance ratio and almost no competition from other brands, who are too costly to reach Xiaomi ; even Wiko can't compete with it because of the build quality of the Xiaomis compared to the Wikos.

As for the future, i think the arrival of Oppo, Realme, Oneplus and maybe others will create a bit more competition in the middle range to high-end and will force Xiaomi to maybe lower a bit the prices to stay competitive... Also it's important to mention that Samsung could very easily retake a very high portion of customers by lowering their prices and fixing their processor mistakes here, as a lot of French people like Samsung.

So Xiaomi are 2nd in terms of market share, but for how long?

well it helps to have Huawei murdered and nobody taking their place since Realme is still just starting, so only budget option is pretty much Xiaomi

Alex 94, 26 Aug 2020Agreed. Also, their prices are higher than in Asia, where a... moreYeah they all rip Europe off too. I know there is import taxes but they add even more in top of that. In Europe, the Note 9 Pro costs €280 but you can import one from China for €180 🤷
