Chinese brands are leading the way as far as innovation in the smartphone segment is concerned. Other brands are simply playing catchup.

Whatever it ultimately turns out to be, I got hope they focus on making the slide in position one where the screen remains compact. And when the entire thing slides out, it's big for when you want that screen area. Current folding phones just can't be used when folded, which defeats the whole purpose of a folding phone.

Yep. Slide out and roll-able display are the correct form factor for expendable phones. Not folding. Folding will always be like a phat wallet, let water and dirt in at the crease, and eventually the pixels will burn out at the joint.

Smart move. Now imagine that instead of 2 way unfold, they go for 3 or 4 way unfold... Or mixing vertical unfold with horizontal unfold...
In the end it will resume to the size of the gap between screens and how visually influences screen usage.
