28 August 2020
The company is using anti-reflective film to allow all of the light to hit the sensor.

Isiboss, 28 Aug 2020It's not useless don't say that again😡Sorry dude, but it is, pop up are way better and cheaper, and just ditching the front camera all together is WAY better than any alternatives, the underdisplay camera is a stupid, complicated, expensive and useless as better solution exist, and more importantly it is dangerous for privacy.

Great technology. But, people don't actually care about notch, people care about quality. Anyway, great.

The video clips of both ZTE Axon 20 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra (special version with under-display-camera) have just surfaced on various forums. They both look magnificent. What is truly exciting is that we are not seeing just one solution from ZTE, but also different solutions from Xiaomi and others (solutions from Vivo, Oppo, Meizu and Huawei are forthcoming in coming weeks), with each approach addressing the issue with significantly different technology. As Ni Fei (CEO, ZTE Smartphone Operation) puts it: "We are witnessing the emergence of a new eco-system for the next generation full-frontal-display of which under-display-camera is a part."

According to a post from the Official Xiaomi, the next generation design of the full-frontal-display will be a major step up over the best implementation to date, as follows:
        - It should be display only, no selfie camera on bezel, no notch, no punch-hole, no pop-up, no sloppy flip-up;
        - No visible 4-sided surrounding frames (left, right, top, bottom) from the front. The surrounding frames should only be visible via side-view, top-view, or bottom-view.
        - The edges of the display will be subject to some special treatment to provide a level of drop resistance.

YUKI93, 28 Aug 2020I'll wait for the full review with selfie photo sample... moreI'll wait till more brands have it and/or prove it works and not overpriced at the same time - of course. And then no spying allowed. It's not here yet, they're about to knock at the door. Knock, knock... no, nobody's home yet! :)

If you want quality of selfies yo be as good as rear, then use same sensors (flip cam or dual screen or samsung a80 motorized rotating cam)

If you want just fullscreen, pop-up camera is enough.

No need for this ud camera. It's even got privacy concerns.

              Useless expensive tech.
Put a pop up or ditch the front camera so we can move on.

I'll wait for the full review with selfie photo samples. Then, we'll see if this is a good idea. I still have some reservation about this kind of technology.

ok it looks a bit blurry, but maybe they find a software solution.
otherwise it seems usable. great work

KMB877, 28 Aug 2020Actually, what GMS stands for? Thanks!Google Mobile Services, those apps such as Gmail, Play Store, YouTube... Etc. They are Google's property and Huawei got its license revoked, so no longer they can use it. But the Mate 20 Pro was released long before that.

While I rarely took selfies and such, in this pandemic time front camera become very important for learning and meeting. Still this is what innovation is all about, go ZTE and Xiaomi.

It's cool and all, but the true measure of coolness is screen to body ratio, It would be a joke if after all that trouble the bezel is still huge, or even has bigger chin still.

It's a good start, but I won't bet on it. As with every new-gen device, you shouldn't buy the first iteration. Just like the Galaxy Fold, the iPad Pro, Mate 20 Pro (with its lack of any GMS), among others.

Once it's been improved either by ZTE on the next Axon or by others, then I'd say it's a successful innovation. For now, I'll stick to pop-ups or flips if I want an uninterrupted display.

Selfie quality is pretty bad but considering it’s first gen technology it’s actually decent. However once considering the price it will be null
