Jimbob, 30 Aug 2020With a bezel that thick & no waterproofing I dont reall... moreDoes bezels hurt you in any way ?
Literally, what is the issue with them ?
If having "something around the display" is what is wrong for you, what about your fingers when you are holding a bezelless phone ? Or the whole world around the phone ?
Does when you use a TV you complain about the wall that can be seen around it ?
The Zenfone 6 and 7/7Pro had similar mechanism, one could argue that the Samsung A80 too, and both doesn't have thick bezels, and I would take thick bezels with no front camera + the better rear/main camera when I need it rather than thin bezels or no bezels and hole or a constantly looking underdisplay low quality camera.
And what with this constant obsession with waterproofing peoples ?
Are you living in water, or is your girlfriend a mermaid ?
Having enough to resist to rain, splash and short term immersion during accidental fall, like the OnePlus 7(t) Pro and the Mi 9t Pro/Poco F2 Pro is more than enough :

No need a phone that think it is a submarine, by the way, there are many IP68 rated phones that do die because of water and other liquids, and none have water damage covered by the warranted, so much for this "waterproofing" (that is actually water resistance) that only seen to be used as an excuse to complain about neat solutions rather than really providing anything else.
Oh and it also cost millions to certify devices, which I hope you aren't part of those complaining smartphones are expensive WHILE complaining that moving camera doesn't have water resistance.

We miss those daring designs. Now companies just milk consumers for money with the same ugly looking phones.

Kangal, 30 Aug 2020Hi again Peter, Can you make a Poll for the upcoming wee... moreHa, I would get one with a removable battery. Nowadays a smartphone is powerful enough to keep it for a longer tine, 3-4 years. The problem is the sealed battery. Actually I am thinking of buying an LG V20, which still now I consider is one of the most feature packed smartphone, with 3.5mm audio jack with QuadDac, microSD slot, infrared, removable battery, QHD screen and a second screen and also MIL-STD for drop resistance. Sadly it was only updated from Nougat to Oreo.

Hi again Peter,
Can you make a Poll for the upcoming week?
I want to know what people think about User Removable Batteries, versus Sealed Batteries. I'm curious to see if people's opinions have changed over the years.
- Most phones (pre-2014) used to have the removable batteries.
- Later (2014-2016) very few models (25) had both water resistance and removable batteries.
- After (post-2016) most have the latter sealed batteries without water resistance.
- Now only some (150) models have water resistance, all with sealed batteries.
I wonder if people are afraid of Planned Obsolescence, or don't care for User Removable batteries, or only care for Water Resistance, or if they actually want companies to innovate harder (include both water resistance AND removable batteries).
Cheers in advance!
