Martin, 05 Sep 2020Ok ban Huawei. Not like America has ever let them operate i... moreFunny that posting rules technically do not allow for political discussions...
Anyways, it is probably true, at least in part, what you are saying, but as others have suggested before, what if the reasons for the ban are even “higher” or “greater”? This really seems to be about a battle between two political and economic systems.
What is sad to me is that a country like the USA engages so much in espionage and surveillance.
Most Westerners like me would suspect the Chinese government to force Huawei to supply sensitive information to them (which I think is reasonable to assume, even without concrete evidence).
But we tend to forget that the USA are doing exactly the same thing. By law, US intelligence can force any US tech company to provide any amount of information.
This, by the way, did not begin under the current US administration but goes back to the very beginning of this century. So don’t expect this to change under a different US president.
Seems like Snowden risked his life and now lives in exile in vain!

What potential? Now that the US and Europe are already taking actions against IP theft by China, I say the potential is 0.

But why threaten other countries and companies who work with them, so much fear in the US of A? This is some personal vendetta that the US has against Huawei for A. Huawei being the leader in 5G Technology and B. Being a Chinese companies. China a country that has the potential to surpass the US. All this spying accusations are a load of bullcrap. Last I check US is the leader in spying not just their enemies, but their allies and their own people.

The only way for Huawei forward is to get rid of the dependencies in the West and make everything itself from chips and chip making machines to apps and operating system.

Fact, any online tech co which has equipment in data centre and are in SaaS require to form a new company by joint venture with a Chinese company and Chinese company need 60% share of controlling power, including access to equipment and data. It like you building a product and handover to another party for, well nothing, because it law.

I sincerely feel that the security and privacy risks that Huawei brings along with it are not worth that great camera and hardware they offer (though the processor is not as good as Qualcomm offerings).
Good that some countries took the decision to distance themselves from Huawei.

Also Crapwei fanbois: "NoOoO why my P30 Lite doesn't get EMUI 10.1, if is a flagshiP!! Why i can't unlock mi bootloader for install ROMs!"
Come on, if Crapwei really wants to step up their fight and stay relevant, they must to be ready to release Harmony OS and don't rely with Android, and keep their prices competitive.

China did not ban Google, Fb, Wikipedia, Whatsapp. Google left the Chinese market because it won't abide by China's internet search laws; Fb, Whatsapp refused to store Chinese users' data within China and shut down fake profiles; Wikipedia propagates info inconsistent with China's position and lock articles from being edited by Chinese contributors favoring western contributors. If you follow China's law, you would be able to operate in China
