By now Im sure Google f***ed up their own hardware. Im pretty sure that the pixel 5 is NOT what the pixel 5 should have been. It's so close to the 4a and so far from the pixel 4, it's just a shame. I own the pixel 4 and am quite happy with it. It just so much better in all terms than the pixel 3 (that i did own for 3 months and hated it). The pixel 5 just needed a bigger battery and an ultra wide lense, that's it. What we get now is a new "4a" series with the 4a 5g being the "regular version", the 4a being a lite version and the pixel 5, being a 4a pro.
Doing this they had to reduce the price of the pixel 5 but also make it more expensive than the regular version (4a 5g) which makes the pixel 5 far from competing with the OP Nord which ist clearly needs to compete with. But worse than this, the pixel 4 XL is still the much better phone for much less money. You get the pixel 4 (none XL), which has nearly same specs (- the 5g) for THE SAME money the 4a costs over here, the 4XL is the price of a pixel 5 right now...this is hillarious. I advice you to get the pixel 4 and wait for google to make sense again. Or just get the OP nord instead...

Review sites seem to be getting hung-up on the chipset, does anyone REALLY see any difference in day to day use these days? Mobile hardware performance on the established platforms (iOS and Android) has plateaued and it is largely irrelevant. In my opinion to pay the premium of a "flagship" device, which is often double the price, just doesn't make sense. Even the materials are largely irrelevant if you put it in a case, but yet benchmarks are done with every review as if they actually make any difference to day to day usage

I'll go with Pixel 5 for sure. I've been using google phones since Nexus 5. Currently using Pixel 4XL (don't have battery issue), and OnePlus 7T.
Pros for Pixel 5 IMO. Fingerprint on the back, how I hold the phone makes it perfect, love it, worked 99% of the times (P2XL, P3XL). Camera, I love pics taken on Google phones. I just hope for new sensor and not Pixel 3 sensor like someone mentioned. Don't play video games so for me processor isn't that important. Monthly security updates also a pro.
OnePlus 7T. fingerprint works about 60%, display issue (even flag phone like 8Pro) slower than Pixel 4XL even thought specs are better. I like the OP interface.
Unfortunately, I would never buy Chinese phones again. I just don't trust them, and when dealing with banking and personal data, it concerns me a lot. Unfortunately OP got caught in the past and keeps on failing on security. It just a personal concern that I have.

Ever since they canned the excellent Nexus line, Google is suffering from a case of Apple-Syndrome where they think their brand name alone is worth a good 100 to 200 dollars.

The LG velvet start... moreTrue The A71 5g cost the same as the pixel 5 but with a worse display, no HRR, no stereo speakers, no Ip rating, worse updates and heavy, no wireless charging, so I think 650€ is not super bad compared to samsung for example but compared to apple(LOL who was thinking that apple can realease better price to performance ratio than samsung (iphone 12 vs A71 5g), oneplus, xiaomi, realme....)
Especially if the iphone 12 has an ultra wide it's gonna be the flagship killer of pixel 5 at the same 650€ (with bad battery)
btw I don't like apple, so don't call me a fanboy, my latest iphone was 5 years ago or something iphone 3gs, but now I am an android fan
As I said the pixel 5 is a much much better deal than the A71 5g, but compared to chinese brand or apple, it is not especially if it uses the same imx 363 from 2 years ago (2018), the pixel 3a uses the same sensor as tge the pixel 3 and the 4a also uses the same one as the 3a, so better not habe the same sensor as those otherwise (if it has a sensor bigger than 1/2.0" and only if that's true then it's gonna be very good, otherwise it is not at all by any means any day any night any day of the week any week in the month, because it's gonna basically be the pixel 3a with a bit better soc, 90hz, and ultrawide and those don't worth 2 times the price
