With a 1ms low latency large scale network, you can imagine two surgeon specialists, residing in two different cities, perform the same operation on a single patient, residing thousands miles away in a third city.

A best implemented small scale 4G network can reach a latency of around 50ms. A typical large scale 4G network will have a latency of more than 100ms. The 5G standard promised a low latency less than 10ms. (4ms latency was thought to be the limit of 5G standard, according to some published studies.) 1ms latency for a large scale network is beyond the current understanding of 5G.

This demonstration is not primarily about Mi 10Ultra, the smartphone. It is primarily about a world-leading massive scale network with super-low latency (1 ms) connections coordinating events (people, sites, devices) thousands miles away, in real-time.

An interesting demonstration for a promised revolution ushered in by the low-latency 5G network. Wait for thousands more such new 5G user scenarios in the coming post-4G world.
A timely reminder that 5G is primarily about something other than smartphones. Smartphone is just one of the many thousands 5G user scenarios.

Bla bla bla. I don't get 1ms on fiber optic wired network for distance under 200km and they're gonna sell us 5G through air and through bunch of hops is going to do that. Yeah, no. Also driving a car with clumsy touch screen smartphone. I don't think so. I'd somewhat believe it if it was wired desktop and the guy was driving it with gamepad using analog sticks or actual steering wheel.

1 ms, damn! That’s really nice! However, being a standalone network and a lot of optimizations, this is more like „ideal test lab conditions“, not representative of real world performance.
