In the normal interface, you are shooting 16mp binned pics from the 64mp sensor and if you zoom in, that's zooming in on the 16mp binned image, not the 64mp image. Some phones offer the option to shoot full scale 64MP shots, but that requires you to switch to pro mode and lose image quality and even then most phones don't let you zoom before taking the pic on full resolution mode. Besides, full resolution images from Quad Bayer sensors are nowhere near the actual 64/48mp detail you would expect from such sensors. Your theory would work if we had 48mp and 64mp normal sensors that were designed to shoot images at that resolution. So in most cases even a 2x zoom 12mp telephoto sensor would offer better quality than zooming in on a quad bayer sensor image.

That is why I still value the native telephoto camera as you can have a high megapixel resolution at a certain zoom without worrying about the megapixel loss. I agree that 2x zoom can be done from the primary camera's high megapixel sensor, the LG V60 ThinQ 5G is a good example to it. But having a native telephoto camera at 3x zoom is definitely a perfect sweet spot.

What is low price in it? Just increase the number by 2 and volla you can charge more...
Instead of replacing / upgrading old phone it easier for companies to simply change model names and up the price... 730 to 732 and there is difference of 2 grand... Am sure production cost of 730 and 732 will be exactly same... And this one does not even support all bands like band 20...
These fones are mass produced and sold in volumes. Look at the profits Xiaomi makes... Of course they have big margins. Every new release has premium to it ... It's all crap !!

Regardless, it sounds like ethics matter a great deal to you, and your statements helped think twice about getting this model. Having said that: I currently use a Samsung S10e , and don't exactly like model's north of 6 inches, so I think I will keep my S10e for a few years. Godspeed.

Think of the blood, sweat and tears of the Chinese people that went into making this phone.. Now think about the crazy low price it is offered.. Now think about how peanut pay those hard-working people are being paid just so you could enjoy this phone.. Some people may even go suicidal just so you could enjoy your phone.. Forced labor in China is real.. That is why I don't support shady start-up companies.. I will support those big companies with clear human resource and environmental values and policies.. Yeah we haven't touch how this shady small company production impact the environment.. How they dispose toxic material or whether they recycle.. You willing to sacrifice the environment just so you can enjoy this phone?
