I built a PC with 13500CZK 2 months ago. (that means around 500EUR). New.
Configuration:
Amd Ryzen 3 3100.
Gigabyte B450M motherboard.
RAM 8GB DDR4 2666Mhz, CL16, Hyper X Fury.
M2 SSD 500GB, Kingston A2000.
Graphic Card Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1650 Super.
Power Supply Corsair CV550.
PC Case GamerMax Silent Hill.

+ 3590 CZK (130EUR) Monitor 27" FullHD.

I can play all the games in 1080p 60fps, with high or ultra high settings. I can easily game in 2k too with that configuration, but I don't find that a deal breaker. That is why I didn't bought a 2k monitor.
I have Microsoft Game Pass for PC subscription, 5EUR per month. So, I can game all the time if I really want to.

I do not like to use my smartphone so, I use the PC for everything else too, web browsing, movies (Netflix), social media, work, etc.

So for me, was an easy choice.

A console, bought only for the reason of gaming, is a good choice. But if you need or want to do something else, it is not that simple anymore.

P.S. Also, I do not have a TV.

        Anonymous, 09 Sep 2020$300 for console + 10 x $60 for games + $300 for five years... more$1,350 for the PC components (decent machine for 2020 gaming) + $110 for Windows 10 + 10 x $30 for games (being generous with the cost on these) + $0 for online service = $1,760

You can still play games on this PC, just like on the console you bought, but it will slowly become outdated the same manner. You'll have to put more money into this after about 6 years. Maybe a new video card ($300) and new CPU ($300), maybe additional memory ($150).
You'll also want to upgrade after 6 years with the console, too. So that is another $300 or $400.

You'll always be buying new games for both PC and console, so not worth mentioning this for future state.

This is not including a nice monitor, but this assumes you have a nice monitor already, like the assumption that you have a nice TV. So not worth factoring in.

Will you get more life out of a PC? Yes. Does it cost more? Yes.

The solution is to either buy based on your budget, or get both to have the most versatile experience. However, if you are getting both a console and PC, do not pair it with an Xbox. Pair it with a Switch or a PlayStation because of the exclusivity in games.

And it all comes down to preference, as in the long run, a pc costs as much as an xbox. And also you don't need all the money at the same time, but gradually, over time

                              Friendly reminder:

"Up to 120 fps" only means that it has support for 120 Hz output, not that the actual games are going to run at 120 fps on average.

This is a digital only (discless) Xbox series X with a 512GB SSD, less memory and a far slower GPU for 300 USD. CPU is the same.
