There is no solution solution for the notch.
And we know apple doesn't want to spend a ton of money developing a different sensor placements when others can do it for them.
And as long as peopole are ok with the notch and everyone generation sells in huge quantities there is no need for change. That is the apple's and many other OEM's philosophy.

It's far more important to refine existing technologies. Therefore, except the Fold, all foldable seem to falter. The Mate X, is just too fragile to even be put in the pocket, since the screen is on the outside. The Razr 2019 has very disappointing hardware. Also, android needs to really work on its UI for folding devices, with all major apps ensuring smooth operation across 2 screens, and when closing and opening foldable devices.

Its not that apple doesn't have the money or engineering knowledge, apple simply lets other oems to develop the technology, all apple is doing its just polishing and refining a feature when is ready for mass production.

Anonymous, 12 Sep 2020Why are decent BT headphones or buds still so expensive then?Because of business.
Every time when a new product category is launched the price is pimping up until they touch the limit and sales start to drop. It is usual strategy.
Why would you sell something for less than how much customers are willing to pay.

The average person doesn't want to pay 1000+EUR for a gadget, that in the end will be mainly use as a phone.
Just look at the sales of flagship phones in the World right now, and see what percentage that is from the whole smartphone business (in terms of units sold, not profit made). And that will be exactly the case with the folding phones.
They will exist, people will buy them, but not tens of millions yearly (like they do now with low-end or mid-range smartphones). This I was trying to say in my comment.

Its seems that you dont understand that current foldable screens are first and second generations of that technology, its obvious that its for selected models with high price. wait two more years and you will get them in more affordable phones

HoldEm, 12 Sep 2020Foldable is the future of smartphones as stated by Samsung.... moreThe average person in this World doesn't agree with that statement.
As long as those folding phones will cost 1000+EUR, they will not be the future. They will be just another part of the smartphone business.
They will increase in sales, but not so much to become mainstream.

Daydreaming, is for free! Of course they will say it to send a strong delusion to the people! Maybe wishing, and kinda hoping, that they would still somehow, be able to make the world believe, that they have, or can somehow produce this type of advancement in futuristic technology for themselves, apart from Samsung.

[deleted post]Removing 3D facial recognition to leave only a hole in the display only for a single camera isn't much of an improvement, the Galaxy S8/S9 had a really good solution with the bezel and Iris Scanner, improvement to add full face biometry and slimmer bezel would have been the smarter choice.
And while pop up allow to put a big amount of sensors, like the iPhone Notch, without sacrificing display space, we've yet to see any using the pop up to put 3D facial recognition, except the Oppo Find X which isn't a proper pop up, but rather a pop up/slider hybrid, and that despite phones like the Vivo V17 Pro having large enough pop up to do that.
The notch is ugly, but it is functional, while Android copied its appearance and not its function (impressive sensor density and hosting biometric sensors), the Apple notch was almost perfectly integrated, I am sure it wasn't conceived as a cutout, but rather as an extension of the display into a tightly packed bezel, they should have only allowed the status icons to access this spot and use two lines for displaying them, it would have been a bezel that allow to show the status icons which get removed from the main display, giving it more space.
The Android side clearly lack innovations, they all copy the same thing again and again and almost never come up with new solutions/ideas except cranking up numbers.

We can be assured that Apple come up with any path breaking tech revolutions unless it is proven in the market by its competitors and is available for cheaper (like Big Sceen AMOLED). They may need to kill iPad if Apple goes for foldable mobiles. And needless to say most of the people are not even interested in knowing it’s PRICE, because they know that can’t buy like all of their products 🤣🤣😂. This is probably to keep the investors and stock market happy for now....
