Neph, 14 Sep 2020I think they removed most useless S20 features and made S20... moreFor $980 I can get note 20 ultra 5G and for $800 I can get S20 ultra 5G.

Unfortunately, "full" S20/S20+ zoom camera doesn't really exist. The 64 Mpx "3x hybrid optical zoom" is just done digitally. There's literally no optics in it and thus it probably can't compete with 3x optical zoom the S20 FE is going to have.

If Sammy doesn't mess up the software, I won't be surprised if S20 FE beats S20/S20+ and even Note20 significantly in zooming capabilities.

When I first took 3x "hybrid" zoom with my S20, I was pretty amazed (as I moved from S8) on photo/video quality using this "3x hybrid zoom". I was even more amazed when it turned out it's almost all digital zoom. But month later I also saw the cheapest P40 with the real optical 3x zoom and I felt like the P40 is at least 2 generations ahead of S20, unfortunately.

As of flagship device as S20 I expect all best. In case of S20/S20+/Note20, the zoom camera certainly isn't. And for me it's a bit of strange that the "lite" S20 FE is going to be better in this area.

Last year's S10 Lite was more like a rebranded A-series smartphone. This year S20 FE is more like cheaper S20 without useless features and fixed S20's weakness (jack + zoom).

Neph, 14 Sep 2020I think they removed most useless S20 features and made S20... moreI'm not sure how this is better value, the regular s20 can already be purchased brand new and unlocked for around the same price, without compromises in the build material used.
I don't think S20 FE will be a bad device. It has good all-around specs and it's competitive enough to stand on it's own. But certainly not at this launch price.

If this device was around 500 euros, it would be a whole different discussion. Because it would place it in the "upper-midrange/flagship killer" territory and would've been a great rival against the Pixel 4a, iPhone SE 2020 and OnePlus Nord

whats point launching another device with same price tag their big siblings S and Note are.
its just quantity over quality now.

Neph, 14 Sep 2020I think they removed most useless S20 features and made S20... moreBruh if you have s20/s20+ it's just better to wait for s21/s21+ unless you really need to "upgrade" with minimal improvements and many draw backs.

I think they removed most useless S20 features and made S20 FE contain only the most important ones for the lower price.
Plastic back? Not a big deal. Actually, it would be more shock resistant when fallen on the ground
No 8k video recording? Good, no gimmick that is present on "full" S20
Gorilla Glass 3? Still scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7 :D
No WQHD resolution? I guess it's actually rarely used on S20 as vast majority of people preffer 120 HZ.

What "lite" S20 FE got instead is the REAL, optical zoom I really, really miss on "better" S20, because - sorry - this 64 MP digital zoom is just average. It's not bad, it's just very, very average. Even on its native "3x lossless" it's not as sharp as on regular P40 for instance with real, optical zoom.

And the last - the "lite" S20 FE has headphone jack I personally very miss on S20.

For me, this FE this year is an UPGRADE over the regular S20 / S20+ and if I could choose one more time, I'd obviously pick S20 FE. For its waaaay better value/price ration, real zoom and jack.

Carriers tend to overprice phones so they can convince people how much they gave them. Little cheaper when more sellers have a stock. Might by worth of interest a bit later.

Andreidinutu, 14 Sep 2020This might be a great dealCosts 700€, has plastic back. You what Samsung?! I don't mind plastic back on a 250€ Realme. A phone that's 700€ should be all metal and glass and there is no argument in this world that will convince me otherwise. If your argument is drop resistance, then make it cost 400-500€ if it's plastic. Not bloody 700€.

Yes, very wise to use renders from inaccurate leaks while there are already accurate 3D models on the market... facepalm. It seems they pull them back, because that Slovak site is empty.
