You cannot talk sense into the hardcore left and the hardcore right in the US. They live in their own bubbles and their logic is so warped you have people insisting the Earth is flat.

We have some of the deadest of brains out here in the comments. Good on the chaps wasting time educating a brick wall that doesn't even know why this company was banned in the first place.

It's hard now to know anything about a country that literally wants you to know that it's the greatest at everything it does.

Dan, 16 Sep 2020No my friend, by inovation I mean to build your own product... moreWhat in the actual fsck are you going on about Huawei not "respecting" their suppliers? This whole charade with the US is all because Trump got butthurt that Chinese technology is better than theirs. It's the US who should respect their supplies, they're basically giving other countries peanuts in order to work from them just so they can sell at 10x the price it takes to manufacture. Don't give me this "but china spying" BS, the US is nothing but an elementary school bully and a pathological liar.

The Cisco scandal was not a small one. I don't care about China spying on me. I live in my own country would never visit China so I will not be affected. But USA spying on me affects me alot. Period.

They are just using othe... moreI don't think you've heard of RYYB sensors that are found exclusively in Huawei phones which they partnered with leica to develop. They use their own erofs file system. They develop their kirin socs. They developed their own 10x optical periscope lens that's in the p40 pro+. They're one of the few companies that make ceramic phones. They have curved screens on all 4 sides. They're one of a few companies with faceid together with indisplay fingerprint scanners. The list goes on. Don't tell me they don't innovate. They're probably the most innovative smartphone company out there today.

Dan, 16 Sep 2020All the smartphone makers use licences for the products the... moreYou're not making sense. Suppliers provide Huawei with components that Huawei puts into their phones. It's not software, there's no licensing involved. And some of those components, such as RYYB sensors, are developed jointly with their partners. All smartphone makers co-develop hardware with other companies. I'm going to ask you again, when Huawei disrespect any of their partners?

Yes, Google and Qualcomm and Samsung asked to keep providing Huawei with goods because of money, nothing more.

Anonymous, 16 Sep 2020You mean innovating and beating Apple and Samsung in phone ... moreThey are not innovating my friend. They are just using others hardware and software and on top of that they put some software. This is not innovation.
When you have partners from where you buy hardware and software to build you own product you have to respect them and the deals. If you don't repsect them why they shoul keep provide them with hardware and software?
So, where is the innovation again? :)
Tell me about huawei smartphone innovation after they will have their own OS and apps, after they will have teir own CPU (not ARM/Intel/AMD design), their own storage and RAM design, their own camera sensors, etc. Unitl then, please... they only use licences to use other companies products.

Dan, 16 Sep 2020No my friend, by inovation I mean to build your own product... moreNo company can make all of the components that go into a smartphone. Can you name one company that does that? And when has Huawei disrespected their supplies? It's not their suppliers that are cutting them off. It's the US government on spurious national security grounds. Everyone from Google to Qualcomm have applied for licenses to keep working with them.

Not by making a custom smartphone with others components: CPU by ARM, storage from Samsung/Micron/etc, RAM from Samsung/micron/etc, display from Samsung/BOE/LG/etc, camera sensor from Sony/others, software from Google, batteries from others, different sensors from other makers, etc.
It's just like marriage: when you don't respect your partner... you can go!
Think of how many companies and software/mobile apps are blocked by the chinese gov. Why is that ok and not the viceversa?

This p... moreOh no I think you got it wrong. American components are crucial in order to make a smartphone, a good one, at least.
Blocking access to these components make it very hard to make flagship-quality smartphones. So Huawei in the P40 Series tried to reduce the amount of American components, but still needed to include some.
Thankfully, those companies at the time had a license.
Also, how are you supposed to make a phone without, you know, making a phone.
