If anything, I'd worry much more about buying a Chinese connected device, since they are not as well regulated, are subject to dictatorial whims, and are not easy to sue and get damages.

But you know that even your internet provider tracks you, right? All that really matters is what is done with the information and how it's safeguarded.

Herr Zeba, 17 Sep 2020The moment you go online your live isn't private. Why ... moreYou could walk into an adult store and some passerbys might see you, but Facebook (/Google/Amazon) is the one that follows you in, takes notes, then continues following and note-taking until you go to sleep in the evening. In the morning Facebook (et al) is waiting for you outside, and continues.

The moment you go online your live isn't private. Why single handily blame Facebook?

Worst thing about this headset is that oem is facebook which could mean that they will lock it or do what they want with it AFTER you have bought it and used hundreds of dollars is software and games.

I hope we will get some REAL competition in this standalone hybrid vr headsets because alternatives today are much worse(no games, worse tracking, no pcvr usage etc) and cost much more.

The competition needs to come soon because Quest has very large library of great games today and will be unstoppable in 2022.

As long as Oculus is effectively Facebook (especially considering their latest dick moves hard-tying their VR stuff to a Facebook account) the point is moot - it can make me breakfast and coffee in the morning for all I care, I still won't touch it with a barge pole.

Yeah, no thanks. Not gonna use any Facebook-related product. Deleted Facebook and Instagram, and unfortunately I have to use WhatsApp until something else is popular enough for me to switch.

It's hard to look cool playing a VR game.

I want to connect it via hdmi cable to my Xbox console and use it via some app as a virtual display. Immersive play on huge virtual TV screen.
