They were planning to give the same maximum support for both of these phones, so they can't make one better than the other, as that would ruin their plan of giving them equal treatment.

I know about them. I just wondered what could have happened if those 120Hz panels really saw the light of the day to fully activate their high refresh rate panels. They were so ahead of the time.

At this price, that's normal to ask the best, better is at this price range and they can't miss this opportunity to come back (Huawei's ban, ...)

Pretty sure they reverse engineered Samsung's Tech :D

Sony is really working on support and listening the customers like reviving the jack and focusing on professional camera apps

How about the Xperia 1 and 5? Will they be upgraded to Android 12 later? Both launched with 9 Pie.

They have actually refined the design, the customer support and updates part. They are even selling more phones than last year. They have also shifted their focus of their smartphone business in only some core markets. I guess they are even making some profit from their phone business now. Comapred to last year. Same can't be said about their console business though.

Ever wonder what happened to those. Year after year less and less sony models are launching. I won't be surprised if in next 2-3 years sony will be completely out of smartphone market like HTC.

Having a 120 Hz mode on the 1 II would be cool, but the 90 Hz Motion Blur reduction works already really well.
That will just be another thing on a really complete smartphone.

But hasn't changed since the fact 4K + 60Hz is the limit.

Since X series, all with 1080p or above are 120 or more.
Including XZ1c , despite being HD.

                                  1. Changes to Android versions aren't that big enough to consider getting updates anymore. I pretty much have everything I need since Android Oreo, the rest can just be updated in software skin.

                                  2. So it is true after all, that Sony uses 120Hz displays on their Xperias, but only hinders them to 60Hz to preserve battery life. Software wouldn't be able to recreate a 120Hz display accurately, it needs the hardware to do that, and perhaps it could even work up to 4K @120Hz if not for the incapacity of the SD865 to handle that display hardware.
But QHD+ at 120Hz is still perfectly fine. Now those phones would no longer have any missing feature at all.

I wonder how Xperia 1ii has better sales than 1, with price $250/€250 higher.

Sony makes excellent phones with excellent software support but their launch prices are just at the top.
If they would have followed right pricing they would have been relevant in the market.
Its clear case of no focus. They are too much invested in their other core business that smartphones segment is really not matter to them.
