blasfamous, 21 Sep 2020You do realise that Asia includes a lot of other countries ... moreNow after the India launch it is even more value for money with same launch price as x2 so it is the best phone out there under 20k

    here is something i have researched on- it turns out oleds could never have TRUE fast refresh rate beyond 60Hz. the reason being is that indeed oleds are prone to motion blur because its pixels are naturally slow in transitioning from one color to another. so, to address this, oled manufacturers used a technique called frame interpolation or "soap opera effect" wherein they insert a black frame in between frames (in the case of 120Hz) or every other frame (in the case of 90Hz). on the other hand, the crystals in LCDs' pixels, are quicker to respond to the current being passed through it and are quicker as well in transitioning from one color to another.

    bottomline- lcds and amoleds have both their pros and cons, so it is up to your preferences; and manufacturers are actually fusing their advantages in the quantum dot LCDs/QLEDs/miniLEDs. QDLCD, QLED, and miniLED actually use LEDs only as backlighting for individual color pixels, while the color pixels itself uses LCD- the result is longer lasting accurate colors of LCDs and infinite contrast ratio of LEDs. microLED is not any better than existing AMOLEDs in that it still will be prone to faster decay of the blue pixels.

        Andreidinutu, 20 Sep 2020''wohoo 200 euro price'' ''... moreYou do realise that Asia includes a lot of other countries besides China? The phone is about to debut (without NFC) in India, for about 230 EUR + taxes, which will take the final price close to 270 EUR. That's about 50% higher than Poco X2 launch price.

          David.k, 20 Sep 2020Why would someone want 5g in a 220 $ phone? For any price, the network is not ready in most locations and in most countries, and even if you have coverage, future apps and future phone will be the ones to tale full advantages from 5G. The whole thing is far from ready right now.

            Yes.. Plastic also won the value for money.. They are useful and cheap therefore easy to replace.. People never realize the price they have to pay in the hindsight.. Now plastic is polluting the ocean, killing off animals and the environment.. Now the environment is paying the price of our ignorance..

            Phones should be built to last.. Not built cheap so that people can replace on a whim.. Phones should have some high price so that people appreciate and takes care of them.. They also should be supported longer in software department.. If this trend goes on the fish will be swimming with phones in no time..

            The earth as a source is limited.. Think before we buy.. Stick to your phone as long as possible.. Be a responsible user.. Don't make phone a new plastic

                Andreidinutu, 20 Sep 2020''wohoo 200 euro price'' ''... moreCome on, you're experienced enough to know this... It's just too early to buy unless you get that discount. I ma to the west from you and phone's available in about 2 online shops and official Mi store sells 128GB for about €280 guess what I would NOT buy at this price. Needs a little time to get better or you can still order from China this is never big problem. (but sadly people keep complain every single time)

                  ''wohoo 200 euro price''
                  ''its early bird price you can get it for 230 euros''
                  Me in romania who can barely get it from untrusty sites for 260 euro minimum...
                  what can I say? overpriced country or asia is extremely underpriced

People in a 5G market want 5G phones available for... moreWe're in X3 section so if I (or person) get X3 I could easily be on 4G till I have another phone. If I have choice and it's not such case then why not or better said yes. Though currently not necessary afaik network not yet built at my place.

                      I was wondering if you (actually who else here) could provide any concrete information on upcoming Gauguin ?? (models markets release specs...) Have some idea about these but that's kind of unconfirmed/uncomplete info.

                      In case you would thanks in advance.

                        Wonder why they companies don't understand that this phone is a brick...
                        - I wish they had moved 3.5mm jack on top smwhr so that you can rest the phone on surface while watching vdos
                        -and charging jack on the sides smwhr....
                        - Mic as well they need to move from bottom to both lower side ... Put this phone in the pocket and all the holes at bottom get filled with debtors... This is do common problem with tall fones now a days....

                        Hope x4 has layout and basic common sense and practice changes...

                            David.k, 20 Sep 2020Why would someone want 5g in a 220 $ phone? Why not? People in a 5G market want 5G phones available for all price ranges, and phone-makers are preparing such market(s) for a 100% 5G smartphone takeover.

                            At this point, we have several 5G phones already priced below $200 (list price for their officially launched markets):
                            Realme V3 (D720, $150);
                            Realme V5 (D720, $190, list price re-adjusted for the forthcoming Realme V7);
                            Redmi K30i (SD765G, $200).

                            5G smartphones forthcoming in October:
                            Realme V7 (D800U, $210);
                            Redmi 10A (5G SoC, $120);
                            Redmi 10 (5G SoC, $150);
                            Redmi Note 10 (5G SoC, $180);
                            Redmi Note 10 Pro (5G SoC, $200);
                            (Not sure of the launch date of Realme V2 (D600, $100), in October? November?)

                            $100 5G phones will be available from multiple phone-makers well before the end of the year. With some luck, we might see $75 5G phones ready by year's end. With several lower-priced new 5G SoCs already in the pipeline to be launched in the coming weeks and months, are we going to see $50 5G phones in Q1, 2021?

                              Anonymous, 20 Sep 2020Why not? People want 5G phones available for all price rang... moreLow-priced 5G phones are selling exceptionally well in their officially launched market(s). This is the reason why there are so many chip-makers (Qualcomm, MedieTek, Unisoc, etc) are competing for newer and lower priced 5G SoCs, and there are so many phone-makers are offering ever newer and lower priced 5G smartphones.

                              A large wave of new 5G phones (primarily based on Dimensity 720, D800U and D1000+, yet-to-be announced D600, D1100), covering the price range from $100 and up, will be forthcoming in coming weeks. (We are literally talking about more than a dozen new models.)

                                DragonNF, 20 Sep 2020some people like me prefer high refresh rate over better colors.And that's absolutely fine. Hence the use of the word "Personal" in my comment.

                                  IpsDisplay, 20 Sep 2020Kind of ironic that you make a statement of the phone no... moreAll I got from your comment are a bunch of negative personal statements and the fact that OLED is used in flagships. Extending and extrapolating, LCDs are used in mid rangers. And that is what this Poco X3 uses.

                                  It is also to be noted that Poco X2 too uses a 120Hz lcd. So nothing new or innovative here. Except the generic spec bump.

                                  About my style of commenting, I generally avoid colorful statements like "Hive Mentality". I prefer logic over personal attacks. But there are many other commenters here who will stoop down to negative comments.
