20 September 2020
It checks most boxes for many people but will those people put their money where their mouth is?

Sad to say, but even that one is bound to get the same 120Hz display as this Xperia 5 II does, and work at lower resolution so that not even the haters can find something missing anymore.
Besides, what's a 2020 flagship phone that cannot record 4K HDR 120fps videos anyway? But nah, it doesn't matter. What matters though is to have a dedicated headphone jack and still have some of the best wireless audio experience available for any smartphone today.

Yes, you CAN have a water resistant phone that retains the jack, FYI. ☺️

Best phone around, the price is a little bit high

Wish grey was coming to the UK.... otherwise I will be looking very carefully at the pre-order offer (knowing Xperia flagships never seem to be discounted during their life) and stumping up a mad £799 for one.... HOWEVER I really want Sony to confirm it like Samsung and Pixel will be offering 3 years of actual support from now on

Spec is great... but price must be lower

No wireless charging with this price though...

Hardware Hypervisor, 20 Sep 2020I don't understand the excitement around this phone wh... moreS20 seriously?? No front firing speakers, No Headphone jack, No SnapDragon outside US, No Pro camera controls, ugly punchhole and finally No 4K HDR 120fps, even 1400€ Note 20 can't record 4K HDR 120fps. Not to forget unnatural colours on Samsung.

People who were asking for the Xperia 5 II were just talk. Nobody will actually buy this.

                  Too tall for me.
150mm is max for my liking.

Great, decently sized flagship with a headphone jack. But not for me, I don't need 120 Hz screen, or even a flagship SoC. Maybe Xperia 10 III will fit my needs.

This is the best phone by far. Other flagships look incomplete or huge compared to this. The S20 series just looks generic, that design is boring especially with that horrible ugly curved screen that no one asked for, and with Exynos 990, I'm never buying it. Overpriced iPhones are still sticking to that notch. I'd buy the Xperia, don't care about the price

Hardware Hypervisor, 20 Sep 2020I don't understand the excitement around this phone wh... moreNo commitment? They were updating their phone for years and they have one of the fastest update schedules, because of their clean Android.

I'm having an Xperia XZ2 right now, a device from early 2018, and it has the latest Android 10 update with security updates still coming every month.

Also, does the S20 has a headphone jack? Does it come with a pro-camera setup? And from what I remember from reviews, this device seems to have below average battery life.

Do I say the S20 is a bad device? No! It is a great device! I just say the Xperia 5ii is a really, really worthy competitor and a great phone, comparing to the light you try to shed on it.

Very decent phone. Would like to know more in terms of daily usage. I'd get this rather than the one two for sure.

Nice phone by Sony. They just need to release more smartphones at diverse price points to regain the market they lost to competitors. I must say Sony is not trying hard though.

And only a £1000 in the UK !!
Being an old git who's been into mobiles since the the time of analogue 5 watt output, 17 lb pack phones run by Pickford's furniture removal and storage !!! I still expect an awful lot of phone for £1k,even if half the price, id not have one,I loathe amoleds.
Sony one of the marmite makers, you either love their stuff or hate it, I like their build quality, but often not the design etc, and it covers the entire range of stuff that Sony produces.

I voted YES, but it's too expensive. If there was an option 'YES, but too expensive", I would have voted for that.
I am using Xperia since the original Z, never had any issues whatsoever. Currently using the Xperia 5 and it will be my phone till the battery worns out.

I don't understand the excitement around this phone when Samsung Galaxy S20 is a better compact phone in every aspect. Too late to launch this phone when the soc and Android is about to enter another iteration. Yet still no commitment from Sony for 3 OS update. To each their own I guess
