Weekly poll: the Sony Xperia 5 II seems to be exactly what many have been asking for, or is it?

I was basically expecting this in the last FIVE YEARS or so...but it's too far priced for me.
I cannot understand why all the brands cannot make something similar in the middle range, which is 150g and less of 70mm wide with big battery and a jack in.

Have used at least 4 Xperia phones, and several Zenfone, Motorola, Nokia phones over the years, currently have six devices, so now am I eligible to comment here ?

I'd love to have this. Great features are the audio jack, camera, 5G capable, SD865, and expandable memory. But I'm still enjoying my LG G7 plus. Perhaps, a couple of years?

Still laughing at the fact that 'features' that were standards decades ago like jack and micro sd slot now justify charging almost $1k for a phone. yeah nah, just gonna stick with what I have longer, not like I use it for much other than browsing sh- anyway.

So real world comparisons are very subjective. I have seen a lot of dreadful pictures taken by Iphones and Galaxy S's that had looked great on the phone screen in the pub but when uploaded to Facebook sucked. That is one reason many brands stuff their phones with "beatifying" AI on the selfie cam and increasingly AI enhanced rear cameras that make things look great but that "pop" is unrealistic it is just what people wish they had actually seen!

Others use copper heat pipes and vapor chambers (sometimes huge vapor chambers...) and still manage to fit wireless charging and audio jacks in. Nothing special here, the phone's not even that compact so they can't justify it that way either.

Vegetaholic, 21 Sep 2020Lol, what quality. I never seen Sony phone does anything be... moreQuality is superb since XZ2. I have compare my XZ3 with S10 and when you hold Samsung in your hand it feel like its plastic and glass is 0.01mm. XZ3 is cosmic better build quality than S10.
About camera. Xperia 1 II have one of the best camera on the market (sensor 1/1.7, F1.7 only 12mpx - big pixels, and super speed).

I have tested that camera (you can find me on YT) and dynamic range its outstanding. And I know what Im sayin' because I have tested many FF cameras and even couple days ago 7S III.

There is no quality, cameras are garbage, Software subpar, battery life was ususally way below competition. Quality is the last thing comes to mind when you think about Sony, my friends use to buy Sony had so many issues that he had to give up and move to other brand

Literally "Not quite, it should have been smaller". I love Sony but I don't watch streaming and don't play game who need the latests chip so 158mm is to tall, S865 is too much. I will keep my S9 but at the moment he is still one of my favorite smartphone on the market

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2020needs to be smaller, 20:9, and around $700.and then Sony competes with 1001 other brands in very similar products... many cheaper than they can ever be because of how they are set up and based & even use Sony components... Sony could not compete with them on price, have no chance of being picked up by a network's own shop (that is a very complex relationship between various kickbacks and secondary sales so not a simple thing to make profitable) and could even lead to Sony losing the other brands as customers so a double bad idea. Sony needs a USP and the screen size is it.

Same for Honor X10, which also has a Graphene Cooling System and thus no Wireless Charging. By the way: a Graphene Cooling System is much more expensive for Sony than a Wireless Charging Pad. And If I personally can choose between both, I'd always choose the Graphene Cooling System.
