they might get it faster, but you still would be able to cook an egg on your Exynos based samsung device after watching a 3 mins video on youtube, then you wont be able to even open the settings because your phone will be running on 11 frames/sec

iOS Never Again, 19 Sep 2020Can you take that 800$ PC in your pocket everywhere? No, why should I? I can take my 350€ phone everywhere. If you really are a gamer, buy yourself a PC/PS/Xbox, your experience will be much more enjoyable, playing games on a smartphone is just said I think.. I have nothing against, but seeing people playing on a 6 inch screens and making so much hype is worng..

I had a phone earlier with that chip, and it used to get heated up so terribly that gradually the back panel started to come off with all that heat loosening up the adhesive

Before that Samsung chips never overheated. My Note 9 with Exynos chip never showed overheating issues.

The S10 series while not being immune to throttle free performance, did not overheat or drop down performance drastically like the Exynos 990.

Did you forget how Snapdragon 810 was an overheating disaster?

Having said that, Samsung should put added cooling either ways as it has made its way into most Chinese flagships.

hmm well this is very interesting indeed

iOS Never Again, 19 Sep 2020Where are the Exynos haters now? It's Samsungs theory, but not the actual fact. Just wait, it will overheat and eat the battery twice as fast. But enjoy being naive.

Regular phone and... moreI understand your opinion, and I used to have that, but when you look closer, you'd see that gaming phones pack several other features that stand them apart from regular phones, even though they can have the same processor and RAM like other non gaming phones, for example, much higher refresh rate like 144 hz, higher touch sampling rate, low latency for when you pair bluetooth earbuds, as normal phones delay sound which affects gameplay, much better thermal cooling for extended sessions, bigger batteries, extra buttons on the side (believe me they make a lot of difference and significantly improve the gaming experience), added gaming related software features such as in built recording and live streaming etc, game turbo mode, dedicated accessories etc. These things are very important for a gamer and a regular phone lacks them, hence gaming phones have become a category of their own and offer significant benefits, just go through a Asus ROG Phone for once and you'll understand what I'm talking about. Peace

L.O.R.D, 19 Sep 2020Their market share maybe not high at the moment, because no... moreYeah.. That's what I'm talking. Regular phone and Gaming phones don't have that much performance difference. Unless that happens regular people won't care about gaming phone. And if regular people don't care you can't call it popular.
I'm not saying gaming phone is a complete failure. It's just not popular and It won't be.
What it helping is to create pressure on regular phone manufacturers to include better thermal management. And they're doing so. This will make the gaming phone even less popular than it already is.

All this speed is totally worthless if it can't be sustained hopefully heat management is much better this year too

AnonD-754814, 19 Sep 2020Can you please tell me what's the gaming phone's ... moreTheir market share maybe not high at the moment, because not everyone uses a gaming phone for mobile gaming, currently only hard-core gamers mostly use them, and also, technically any regular smartphone can be used for playing games. I don't have a gaming phone yet but their low market share isn't going to decide whether I get one or not. And the market share, it's low but it's increasing fast and if you're expecting it to reach double digits before you start calling them popular, then it's likely not gonna happen but still they're going to pick up more pace in future. Finally, if they're not highly popular doesn't mean they're a failure. Ferrari probably has a market share of far lesser than 0.1 %, that doesn't mean it's a failure, there are buyers for everything

So, I'm guessing Exynos will be more efficient for regular usage and SD will be more efficient for gaming. So, I don't think Exynos will beat that this year. If they use a lot of Mali GPU core they might match the performance but GPU won't be efficient as Adreno.

Yeah like 1% faster and 200% hotter 🤣

We care more about power managment and if it can handle heat well.
Who in their right minds would care if its 10 or 20 % faster ?
                                      -20 % battery life
                                      - Does not overheat a lot

                                      This is what we need.
