If by flagship you mean the little dingy boat that follows the fleet, then yes, the Nexus is Telstras Android Flagship. The Nexus has been running Jelly Bean for over a month in Oz. I am not sure where you get your information, but I assume its Wikipedia.

Jack of Sydney, 20 Jul 2012I am still worried about the Google spyware on Android devi... moreIt's not that people don't comment about it, it's just that no one cares until it is brought up in an artical. There's no way to avoid it unless you really go out of your way to go into legal matters with the company at fault, if you sign a contract that says "We are gonna spy on you and if you sign this contract you agree to letting us do so." Then really, you as the consumer are at fault and can do nothing.

Patrick, 19 Jul 2012Its the development team at Telstra. Samsung submit their f... moreYou do know telstra generally have slightly different phones that other carriers right? The galaxy s2 for example. Telstra didn't offer the i9100 (international version) it offered the i9100T (one that is better designed for the NextG network. Samsung haven't even made a 4.0.4 update for this phone yet however two weeks ago released an update for the international version.
I'll admit that sometimes they are stupid in their reasoning not to release an update. For example, with the i9100T, they were testing the 2.3.5 update for it however during testing, got the 2.3.6 update, and thus didn't release the 2.3.5 update, then the 2.3.6 update failed testing and it wasn't pretty at the telstra forums.
I also am of the opinion that carriers should be taken out of the "testing" phase of updates. Manufacturers should be able to just update without having to send it to every single carrier that sell their phones. Given that google have said they will be giving manufacturers SDK code before the general public from now on, this will also insure faster updates.

Patrick, 19 Jul 2012Its the development team at Telstra. Samsung submit their f... moreIt's obviously not that simple. Testing and network customisation needs to be done properly, which takes time. Also don't forget that there is not just a single handset to be tested at any point of time, but dozens of new phones, and even more software updates per year is a lot of work.
Also, saying that other telcos release software updates in a 'timely manner' is false too. Telstra is actually pretty good to release over the air updates ahead of the rest.

I am still worried about the Google spyware on Android devices. Can someone with real knowledge of this please explain why Google can market your mobile phone habits to the highest bidder. I dont want any device, any brand, that records my every movement or action. Look at your contract and see if you can sue Telstra if the mobile phone you have automatically records what you do. I am stunned places like this forum and other places never comment on Android or Apple built in spyware.

TAIPEI: Taiwan's leading smartphone maker HTC has that it was suing technology giant Apple in the United States, claiming it has infringed on its patents.
HTC said in a statement that the suit was filed in a district court in Florida but declined to elaborate as the case had entered formal litigation proceedings.
According to the Taipei-based Apple Daily newspaper, HTC claimed in the suit that Apple's MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iPhone have infringed on two patents it acquired from Hewlett-Packard last year related to computer networks.
Such lawsuits are a regular occurrence among technology giants and Apple has accused HTC and other smartphone makers using Google's Android mobile operating system of infringing on its patents.
HTC this month hailed as a victory a British court ruling that it did not infringe on a patent owned by Apple while three other Apple patents were invalid.
Apple and South Korean giant Samsung are also engaged in a slew of patent suits against each other in international courts, with both companies vying for a bigger stake of the smartphone and tablet markets.
