I think it fair to compare this with the S20 FE, and if you look at both, it has it plus and downs on the feature. But the pricing is too far apart. Regardless of Sony as a company, it presence and market in mobile phones shouldn't made Sony has the 5 II MSRP so high.

Samsung and Sony went jv on a TV panel plant producing various of VA panels, but sold majority shares back to Samsung. Till today, the VA panel models of Sony TV is still using the Samsung ones. Don't discredit vendors where it dues... Monitors I prefer IPS, but for TV, I'm still big Samsung VA fan, since will, I'm not forking out $3000+ for a QLED or OLED TV. I rather looking to upgrade it 7-10 years time. And whatever mid premium new tech at that time, will beat the premium tech of today. That just how it goes. And if you are't looking at some of the absolute value (which I think Sony has the upper hand), overall value, I can safely recommend Samsung TV any day.

I'm talking about Triluminos display, X-Reality Engine and the color spectrum sensor, these are really non absolute essentials. Who stares on how the screen performs everyday compare to others? A good screen in place will do just fine. Or which ever that will drive the price down. All I'm saying it need more price gap between products, and Sony is no longer on a competing level to have a phone at such pricing when S20 is, well, cheaper and more reputable on the mobile phone front.

Ans: Serve yourself. Be grateful this isn't discussing politics or religion, because if it's, then all of us are doomed instantly. At least this isn't the 2018 Xperia era as well, because fans were attacking the nay-sayers for requesting & making the 2018 Xperia way too mainstream for their taste (too curvy, no headphone jack, lost boxy signature design,etc.)

Ans: One to others. Still, I tried to respect those brands in the slightest, although subtle way, because technological advancement has still had challenges, even in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era like this.
However, if someone dragged Sony because neglecting the philosophy, consideration, the perspective, or other reasons that resulting Sony really keeping, for too much, I won't hesitate to drag that person and their favorite OEM as if they insist Sony should stop doing their own things and retract to mainstream stuff like others. IDC if you think that's a bad idea, they're the one not even trying to understand Sony PoV in the first place.
Don't ever blame me if the last holders of Xperia are gone due to nay-sayers, or I would say, closeted-fan and lowest-common-denominator, ruining everything again due stray from what Xperia has known on fan inner circles for a long time. Sony already lost a lot of fans thanks to XZ2/3.

This year finally sony brings a competent offer but like usual expects people to randomly know of its existence and just decide to go online and buy it full price rather than being able to walk into a store and get it on discounted financing.

But, of course, I'm talking about charging when you spot the battery lvl is down, not talking about charging regularly every night.
Sometimes you got like 5mins, it happens.

Western spoiled kids at their most privileged ... moreI would agree maybe 15 years before, tech nowadays changes so fast, every few month there are phones with new next gen features, price of phone may not go down fast because of materials and sw features, but you will droll for those features if most of people around will use them, since they even get faster to mid range, even lower mid range.
Though I bought a flagship phone for 1/4 of price half year after release, now 1 year on it, it lacks more features I can count on my hands. Surely I will think again how much to pay and what brand... Value goes down fast after all, no point paying 1000 for already outdated tech...

The same you can do with LG if we are at it.
Of course, fanboys will always get triggered by these things. But, I didn't say their phones are bad, just that this are the facts. People are not buying Sony or LG phones. Because there are just better offers out there (price wise). Of course, talking about entry level and mid-range areas, because here the price is the most important thing. In flagship area, not so much.

well, compared to the previous launches... the Sony Xperia 5 II does hit the bull's eye with it's remarkable configuration. Bigger screen, lightweight, and good processing power are some of the key highlights

I'm going to buy the phone regardless, but not because of the deal, the deal is kinda bogus and low value IMO as well..
Cheap, kinda low value, "gamer" headset - not suitable for hi-fi music, the phone is boasted about, everyone who cares about listening experience already probably has better headphones, the kinda pointless battery pack and some random game credit I'll never use, and neither will most other people who can afford this device. If offered to me, I will get the phone without all that stuff, as it's pretty much trash.
Ofcourse, that's just my opinion..

but, yes... i agree, he or she might be looking to much at other makers and wants xperia to be like them... sony is unapologetic...
i guess if he or she have the chance to talk to sony, they will tell her or him "we dont do that here"...
