Foldable Windows tablet Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold now on pre-order

29 September 2020
The 4:3 screen is much larger than what the Android foldables offer. Also, there's a clever keyboard that can be tucked inside.

Overpriced with an underpowered processor. The form factor is the only reason to even think of buying one. That too for adventurous people. But the price tag is a bit too much. You could get an ipad pro and be left with enough to buy a Zephyrus g14...

They work great with a mouse & keyboard, though. There are a very fewer good/popular apps available on windows store optimised to be used on a tablet with a touch screen. Most of apps are still too buggy. Heck, even their store is developed on HTML, too sluggish & buggy. I am not a windows hater. I use proper windows laptop for coding in visual studio myself. But on a tablet I just don't see it sensible or functional. Very bad experience with their surface RT tablet that I had bought a few years back. Got outdated very quickly.

I know that because I have a Dell Latitude 7200 2-in-1 tablet running Windows 10 Pro, and I have no problem installing any x64 softwares or games in it.

YUKI93, 01 Oct 2020If you talk about Windows 10 ARM, then I can agree with you... moreYou won't be using standard non-store apps in tablet mode right. So, if there aren't enough tablet optimised store-apps on windows store, then what's the use of buying a windows t tablet. I hope you get my point. Thank you.

But we're not talking about Windows 10 ARM here, we're talking Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro depending on your personal preference. So you should have no problem installing any x64 software on the hard drive. I definitely would love to see how Adobe CC software cope with this kind of form factor.

Core i5-L16G7 / 8GB Ram in $2500 device, Ok.

Good luck with that.

ethereal, 29 Sep 2020Windows on a tablet is trash to me. iPad all the way.Not if it's the standard Windows 10 OS. If it's the Windows 10 ARM like in Surface Pro X, that could be a different story altogether.

concept wise, a cool device, but 2.5k for a i5-l16g7 ? i'll wait a few years till will get (far..) less bulky and (far..) more reasonably priced. anyhow, is a start...

looks genuinly cool! But this should make other Laptops cheaper at least though it really cant demand too much for the average procerssor and average RAM. These machines are good only for powerpaint Gurus not for the developers and creative artisis

Come on Samsung, we need a 13.3" Android tablet pronto.

4:3 aspect ratio? Take note, Apple. This is how a foldable iPad should be.

Cool one ✔️✔️✔️

When do we get foldable smartwatches (why not)?
