New camera features coming to the Google Pixel 5

Not spending more money. But up to a point with software improvement. The obvious differences are on the big screens, and the TVs are obvious. Maybe not noticeable on 5-6 inch screens. But there is a huge difference between a Sony IMX363 and a Sony IMX700. or with Samsung GN1 or OmniVision OV48C PureCel®Plus-SHDR. I will not give money. There are products that are much better equipped for that money.

I have a Pixel 3a and the sensor is full of dead pixels, it is very bad when you zoom or when you use Night Sight on a tripod or when you capture dng files. I tried two other Pixel 3a, the severity and distribution of dead pixels was different, but still very bad. I don't have this issue with other phones. IMX555 or IMX557, same resolution, same processing solution, but it has much better raw color accuracy, noise characteristics, and capture speeds.
No need for a giant 48, 64, or 108MP sensors and having to rework algorithms and stuff.

I'm between that phone in 5G and the Pixel 5. When testing the Samsung camera I've seen that the zoom creates a lot of aberration in the image, PURE GARBAGE, it's a forced digital processing of VERY BAD QUALITY. I think that up to X5 and worse x10 of zoom the camera creates not bad images, but then it is a waste of effort with a higher zoom. On the same Samsung website it says that it can create image distortion. If Google 5 had a zoom I wouldn't think twice about it. They've put in the fashionable camera, the Wide. Which is not a favourable opinion of the users. My biggest problem is that I live in a country in the CEE that is not yet going to arrive on the 5 of Pixel. Spain it´s probably the country that people buy most phones. Horrible marketing by Mountain View. Horrible design, horrible proccesor choice, horrible not radar, horrible size of front camera, horrible colors, but i am still thinking of buy a Google Pixel 5, only by the camera.

I actually like that Google is sticking to a sensor which has proved to be very good. It is possible though that they may get better image quality with the popular 48MP sensor since it seems to work well even for manufacturers that usually suck in the camera department.
I however don't appreciate changing camera sensors every year since OEM usually don't have enough time to optimize it properly.

Would you rather pay 610€ for the pixel 5 (2 year warranty) and the bose 35 qc ii (preorder bonus in Germany until 15th oct or stock ends) or wait until black friday and get the Galaxy S20 FE 5G with 3 years warranty (Amazon special) for probably the same amount of money.
I already have a pair of 2 year old sennheisers hd 4.40bt that are quite capable but not nearly as cool as the bose

Regarding light per time the hardware hasn't even really improved since the Nexus 5x.

Since the Google Nexus 5 (when HDR+ was released) they always only combined exposures with the same exposure settings (same shutter speed, same gain). Exposure bracketing can lead to more artifacts, increases noise in the highlights, but reduces noise in the shadows at base Iso.

Totally wrong! Since the Nexus 5 they always only combine frames with the same exposure settings (same shutter speed, same gain). Google said this again and again and again and it is also mentioned in their papers.

It had 8 cores and dedicated RAM to perform the google camera algorithms.
It is better than the spectra ISP from the Snapdragon chips.

Nearly all phone sucks at panning and i always shoot at 4k 60fps now cos of it.
