Galaxy Z Fold 2 subjected to durability test, makes for a cringey watch

The overall build is much improved from last year's model though the main display is still not to be poked with sharp obects.

MrBing, 03 Oct 2020Actually I do find JerryRig videos useful as well. He'... moreYeah he is a bit biased towards certain brands. That is probably because if he criticises too much he wont be able to get free phones anymore to do a durability test. His knowledge about specs migh not be as good as other tech youtubers but his explanation when doing a phone teardown is commendable.

I usually watch his video not just for the durability test but i'm more interested on his diy project like the rugged wheelchair he made for his wife. I also like on how he explained on the bump stock on AR15. Makes him look like agent 45.

But we all watched his video for his soothing voice right?

Whilst it is a new technology I'm starting to think that two screens magnetically clicked together is best, maybe with a connector socket, yes there is a line in the middle of the screen but at least it's a gorilla glass screen rather than scratchable plastic.

.alpha, 03 Oct 2020Jerry / Zack's review don't do anything. He isn&#... moreNo, his reviews do a lot. When I was buying Xiaomi Mi5 years ago, his poking of the phone explained me exactly what the construction of the phone was, how is it built and what materials are used on different parts of it. It also catastrophically failed the bend test by literally snapping in half. That's a good info too. But I bought it anyway because I don't wear phone in my pants back pocket so sitting on it was very unlikely and the fact I never even bent any phone in my life in any way shape or form. I bought an iPhone XR later and that Mi5 is actually still in use by someone else. It's not about him being a professional technician, it's about YOU extracting useful information for YOU from that torture test. It may be entirely unrealistic, but I'd say if a phone survives his entirely unrealistic bend test where he uses all his strength to bend it, then it's great for people who have already sit on a phone and destroyed it that way. As explained above, that isn't an issue for my usage.

Also his scratching of everything on phone is useful even if it's down to just knowing how much the aluminium on the sides makes scratches visible when they are there. And in case of plastic sides, are they solid plastic or painted? NO ONE anywhere tells you those sort of details, but they are important to me. Coz solid plastic when gets hit during drop will still be same color, just with a dent. Painted one may reveal some cheap nasty other color underneath and look 100x worse. So, yeah, his pointless and totally unscientific torture tests are great way to get VERY useful information, if you can only extract it yourself from his videos. And it's all a matter of deduction which should be easy for any living human being. Just pay attention to things that matter to you and ignore those that don't and you'll get plenty of useful information from it.

is this even necessary? who in their right mind to buy phone and destroy them? this is a lot of crap. buying good phones just to destroy it and tell the world how sturdy they are. nobody even care.
