MrBing, 07 Oct 2020Realme is one of the worst Android OEMs on the market. F... moreSo far RealMe is a pretty decent copy of XiaoMi. It push XiaoMi to keep great value which is a good thing.

One main problem from RealMe from actual user around me is that RealMe software have tendency to bloat. Like the OS could grow to 50gb+ till it reach max storage. Either is data gathering software went nuts or a bug causing the bloat. But quick factory reset (temp) fix it. Three users and two suffer from that problem.

Hopefully they fixed and keep the competition close to XiaoMi so users could get great products.

Realme is one of the worst Android OEMs on the market.

Floods the market with excessive models.
Some models look identical (ex. 5i and X50 Pro)
Poor software with a lot of bugs, slow, and bloated (Asian version)
Build quality issues (exploding battery, screen burn-in)
    Rubbish cameras

Cheap, but don't expect much. Innovation seems fake at realme's department.

Anonymous, 07 Oct 2020This is using cutting edge fast charging tech unlike ancien... moreUnless they reinvent electricity and lithium battery, there are limited option on preventing degradation.

      - Qnovo basically monitoring several aspect of the battery (heat and stuff) during charging and adapt the charging power to maintain "safe" power transfer and minimizing battery degradation.
      - Tesla designed the battery case to minimize damage (optimal cooling and such) and basically only advertise 80% of the actual battery capacity to mask the degradation.

So yeah, while there are attempt to optimize like Qnovo+Tesla or work around the basic tech like Oppo/One+/RealMe idea to split the battery into two and charge them together to get faster charging.

The basic tech is still the same and if the principle is the same, the negative of that tech will still be there. Part of reason Qnovo only claim of reducing the impact and Tesla only adverise 80% of the capacity because the know the degradation still there.

That's why i ask, in this era of fast charging, do we the customer actually have access to data of the impact of fast charging to battery degradation.

Also why is ASUS Zenfone the only phone I'm aware of where you can hard lock charging to certain percentage (without rooting anything)? Like for example only charge to 80% and it actually stops there automatically then. On all other phones you can only use charge alarms and be around so you hear when it's charged to that percentage and unplug it. All phones should have this option as standard.

It can fully charge under 1 hour.
It also ate 1% of your total battery life on every full charge.

Do we have actual data on battery life degradation or expectancy in this 100W+ charger era?
