I have tried several times to install stock flash roms to no avail until I found this article which revived the phone. https://technastic.com/nokia-stuck-in-download-mode-fix/
Your device always saves a copy of the previous OS installed on one of two partition slots. If an update bricks your phone, there is a good chance that you can still unbrick it just by switching to the previous firmware.

i have a nokia 3.1 dual sim it made the upgrade to android 10 with no problem it lasted like half of hour or so. But android 10 (android one not pie or something else) is too much for this phone configuration it works slow in almost all aplications. the difference between android 9 and android 10 is that on android 9 the phone become hot if you use it too much but orked smood and well, and in android 10 is always cold but works hard. the battery is still for 1 day in normal use.

I saw notification on my screen to upgrade my Nokia 3.1 from Android 8.1 to Android 10. I started it and the phone requested a restart. After about 4 attempts to switch on, the phone went completely off and hasn't come back on for about two hours now. I've tried switching it on severally but it only attempted about 4 times and wentn off. Any advice, please?

But since the 3.1 is a 2018 phone, at least it has completed the two-year major software version update.

Phone brands like Xiaomi and Oppo's strategy is basically spamming multiple phones per year with incremental upgrades and sometimes rebrands, so that more people will buy them. If every phone brand releases 4 phones per year, they're gonna be priced like extremely high to make up for their profits since they can't sell as much budget or midrange phones.

Also if they release 4 phones per year, Android phone makers will have more time to focus on their individual phone's updates, they will probably catch up to iPhones in terms of software update support and you can expect their flagships to cost way more than even the iPhones. People will not be able to get affordable phones or flagship killers anymore since the choice will be so limited.
