Weekly poll results: the Pixel 5 faces an uphill battle, the Pixel 4a 5G headed for disappointment

11 October 2020
Most voters in the poll think Google's 2020 offerings are not worth the money. The Pixel 5 (and even the vanilla 4a) do have some fans, though.

By end of the year, 8xx chips are no longer made.
Phones from 2020 with 855+ have chips bought in 2019 that could not be all used.

I'm getting a pixel 5 after being a long time samsung user. Samsung comes with too much non-removable bloatware and they are overly expensive for a phone. My samsung 7 edge is stuck at Android 8. My hope is that by switching to Pixel it will allow me to keep up with new versions of Android and software apps, which is more important than having the latest processor. Phone, Browsing, Text and Photos is 90% of what I do. Add 5g and it should work well for me.

I've ordered a pixel 5. In the UK is £599 including tax and you get a free £200+ set of Bose headphones. Pretty good value this side of the pond.

Jskinvest, 11 Oct 2020It is incredible that the Pixel 5, the more expensive of th... moreYes, I've read that too. The stereo speakers on the 4a & 4a 5g are better than the pixel5. Google, what the heck is that all about? Plus on the five no 1440p 90hz display, just 1080 at 90hz? Yikes!

I bought the Pixel 4a and it is a great phone at a great price. I don't need a phone that is basically a portable laptop...or one that could win an "electronic beauty pageant". I need a phone that works and works well. I have not had any problems with watching videos, playing games, or even making and receiving calls. And the big part of why I got this phone is the fantastic camera. Considering the affordable price for the 4a and how well it operated, it was a no-brainer for me to grab one and to recommend it to my friends.

Plus I use the 4xl, the five is a major let down? The 855 is still better than the 765processer? And the price? 7oo.oo+ tax for the mid-ranger is too much? Should have been 550.00? Then they would have sold ⛵ loads? Google, overpricing has always been a problem for them. The best deal is the 4a, now that's the real deal!

Many people want one of the 3 news Google Píxels. I live in Europe and in my country will be not release the GP5. Like me there are many people that i read their comments that want this phone. Idk why a prestigious web like GsmArena write an article like this.

Isn't this their journey every year? Ever since they changed their lines from Nexus to Pixels, Google comes out with very sorry hardware, price it high, then sell it at discounts, fire people in their phone department, wonder why enough people aren't buying it. And the next year? Rinse and repeat.

Also, in my opinion, stock Android is the most unimaginative operating system interface ever. Even Java-based OSes that would power old feature phones (looking at you Sony Ericsson Elm) had way more features, conveniences and chutzpah than stock android. I am an Android user. And I have used stock Android for 3 years. Then used an iPhone for a bit, then a skinned version. I'd rate
                        1) Skinned Android
                        2) iOS
                        3) Blackberry
                        4) Windows 10 phone
                        5) Java
                        6) Symbian
                        7) Windows CE (in old digital PDAs)
                        8) Stock Android

Google have done a brilliant job of making it seem like they invented Android and they are just letting other OEMs use it and tinker with it. When all those people who clamour for a Pixel because, "Oh it is Android as its original maker envisioned it..." Man are they in for such a shock when they know facts. While iDiots are better known, the Pi-gnorant can be more dire.

I am a little bit worried about the quality of speaker. Many viewers pointed out that Pixel 5 has ok level speaker, or worse one compared to iPhone and other Android smartphones(e.g.Galaxy). Now I want to know how you think about the speaker.

Yet another negative tone click bait header. Sad to see my favourite website doing this with Google as it often does also on HTC.
The Pixel phones have a delightful uncomplicated software experience and I think the price is ok. It's not a $1000 price tag, feels good on hand and looks great. Sold out in many places till the 15th. Yes distribution could be more though. Same with HTC and Nokia. The pixel 5 sage is being well received and like the aluminium back. My Pixel still rocks like new.

I'm still using a 3a and for the money, it's a great phone. But, if I were in the market for a new phone, I'd get the regular 4a. I'm in the Dallas / Fort Worth area and on Verizon network. The only 5G coverage here is localized to a very specific area in downtown Dallas at a hospital which I hope to never be at. Any 5G phone is not worth it to me until there's a real network. The other phones would be an absolute waste of money. Besides, I still like my 3a and have gotten my money's worth for sure.

your poll says that 2 out of 3 people would buy one of the new pixels. and considering that they are already sold out kind of backs that up. sure, they are a bit overpriced, but it hits the mark with a lot of people, and the specs are actually decent. people who say they dropped the ball i'm sure they would not buy one even if it had top specs and a 6.7 screen and the same price as an iphone or samsung. they would still be moaning about it
