A few months late, I got a message to on it to restart. So I did and it never worked again.
It just turns on and off. It would not even connect to the usb and the computer could not recognise it.
The battery charging symbol did not come on and just did the same on and off.
Was advised to return to Argos has it was only a few months old and should be under warranty by them.
So I did and I was gob smacked with the reply. If I had not opened the seal and turned it on I could exchange it for another one. Sorry we cannot accept responsibility now you have used it.
Never get another phone from them.
I did try the local Nokia shop. Wouldn't look at it has I don't get it from them.
It was a very good phone and took great photos . Not all lost.

I purchased Nokia 5.1 in June 2020. It came with Android 8.0. in October 2nd, it automatically updated to android 10 successfully. after restarting. Phone refuses to boot. Went to Nokia center, they fixed it and gave it back to me with Android 9.0. After a few days, it again automatically updated to android 10, Phone refuses to boot, just restarting again and again when attempting to boot and finally goes off.

How can I solve the problem once and for all?

I purchased Nokia 5.1 in August 2019 as my second phone (backup). It came with Android 8.0. After that it never succeeded in updating OS thought I tried to update for a year, until two weeks back it seems something happened (mostly update) and next day morning what I could see was AndroidOne screen. Phone refuses to boot. Went to Nokia center. They fixed it and gave it back to me with Android 9.0. Guess what I started using it in evening (without loading any extra applications), could use it till night, next day morning same problem, but this time it asked me to reboot for update and it got stuck......This is absolutely ridiculous, certainly not expected from brand like Nokia, it really sucks.

Accumulated updates over 2 years have filled internal memory on Nokia 5.1 to over 14.5Gb. I have stripped out ALL other internally stored apps (banking ones and parking ones) but the phones internal memory CANNOT accommodate Android 10. Why do HMD Nokia think it can be updated. I have 'paused' the update and will shortly scrap the phone as useless to a yone.

Carol, 12 Oct 2020Samsung has a lot of money, while HMD is not half that big,... moreThen...don't launch so many devices if they can't handle it. Most of their devices are using low end hardware like chipsets from a few years ago, and mediocre camera setups.

Plus their software is basically stock Android, not much for them to spend time customizing unlike Xiaomi's MIUI and Samsung's One UI. Or just follow what Xiaomi and Realme is doing. Sell their devices for a lower price and use higher quality hardware in it. More people will def buy their devices if that's the case.

Carol, 09 Oct 2020If they would have offer more then 3 years support for all ... moreWhen you purchase a Nokia 8.3 5G which comes with SD765G, eMMC 5.1, 60Hz LCD, NO OIS, NO 4K recording in front, 18W charging, NO resistance, INSTEAD of Samsung S20 FE, which has SD865, UFS 2.1, 120 HZ AMOLED, OIS, 4K (on front), 25W, REVERSE charging, IP68 resistance. Then, you can't say that Nokia is only charging for phones, not for services

P.S: Samsung promised 3 years of upgrade on a UI having more features than Android One.

AD, 09 Oct 2020Why they have dumped Nokia 8? It was a capable hardware to ... moreAt least be happy that they unlocked your bootloader. I had to shed $8 to a completely unknown person, who, not only took control of my phone, but also of my laptop (for a few hours, though)
Apart from Huawei, this is the only brand which doesn't pay any attention to demand of consumers

Carol, 09 Oct 2020If they would have offer more then 3 years support for all ... moreEver heard of Samsung and OnePlus
P.S: OnePlus One, launched in 2014, is running Android 10

ob, 11 Oct 2020For those who asking Android 10 for Nokia 8 is such a troll... morei hope those people get the message clearly:

"don't waste you hard-earned money on nokia's flagship. instead, buy an upper-mid range of samsung/oneplus' flagships and enjoy three years of upgrades along with features missing in nokias"

Carol, 12 Oct 2020Samsung has a lot of money, while HMD is not half that big,... moreIf the company doesn't have resources, then why on earth are they maintaining such a huge portfolio?
There is no point releasing phones with SD429 and SD439 at the same event. There is no point releasing phones with SD636 and SD660 in 2019. They can very easily reduce their liabilities, if they want to.
They can club Nokia 1 and 2, Nokia 3 and 4, Nokia 5 and 6, Nokia 7 and 8. That will reduce their liabilities to half, without any loss of potential buyer.
And, they will keep struggling financially until they stop releasing phones with two year old processor, worst quality hardware, uninspiring cameras, buggy software, etc.

Swordman, 10 Oct 2020Ofc it depends on models too. Flagships and really popular ... moreSamsung has a lot of money, while HMD is not half that big, for how small their business is, i'd say they do a great job releasing the updates. You need to mind the fact that most of the burden for this updates hangs on HMD developers back, and am pretty sure they are not enough to face so many devices, well the company is not rich enough to hire more... so for the moment HMD just can't be compared with companies like samsung, in this department, as samsung has a lot of money to burn, and still they won't update their devices in a proper maner.
