Apple reportedly had to choose between 5G and 120Hz for iPhone 12 lineup and it picked 5G

Both increase power draw from the battery and having both would have had a major impact on endurance.

iOS Never Again, 29 Oct 2020I have already shown you SOT for HRR display from my person... moreAgain just stop....you literally have nothing else to bring onto the table. I, also, have shown you and gave great detail on HRR but yet you limit just to navigating through the OS. Not giving any details on how you use it in your everyday life. Not giving details on the adaptive HHR capabilities...nothing so who really lost...

And the fact you have the audacity to bring up GSMArena as a source shows that you're really not paying attention at all. Just look at the latest devices from Samsung(S20 series, Note 20 series AND the Galaxy Fold 2 5G says something) and tell me it doesn't have an effect. There are phone manufacturers that know what they are doing and how to optimize the OS and battery management( hello OnePlus, Google) and others that just slaps 90/120hz just for the money( darn near every Chinese phones, SAMSUNG)

For a lot of people, 90/120hz does not matter( or rather not for everyone). It's the fanboys(Fandroids specifically) that makes a big deal about and pushing that down other people throats like the best thing ever. Apple did it first with their iPad Pro but I don't hear iFans chanting from mountains on how 120hz has changed their lives( well not on here at least...)

So please stop talking to me and stop talking like you know something cause you really don't. You have limited experience but expanding like you're professional. Have more class and more manners and then come back to me

Until then, wise up!

iH8allFanboys, 29 Oct 2020Sooo you're gonna dismiss my opinions on using HRR on ... moreI have already shown you SOT for HRR display from my personal use.
GSMarena concurs that with their battery endurance test as well.
Meanwhile, You are basing your opinion on using 90hz phone for a while and claiming it to be not all that.

You've clearly lost the argument. It's okay to accept defeat.
You'll gain more respect that way in the eyes of others.
Come back and tell me when you have used a HRR on flasghip phone as a daily driver.
    Until then you are dismissed!

iOS Never Again, 20 Oct 2020Lol I knew you didn't have a HRR Phone. Its usually p... moreSooo you're gonna dismiss my opinions on using HRR on a smartphone even though you're missing the entire reason for having HRR on a smartphone....uhhhh ok sooo that means you have no argument at all got it thanks.

Here's the thing, the reason to have a HRR is for games. Sure, you get a smoother screen experience on the OS(and yes I've handled a phone with 90hz and it's honestly nothing special...just being honest) but to say that every phone needs it just for that reason is just silly...like you, especially it hurts battery life more than usual.

Also, learn how to read, please... HRR is the same on any device as long it has a screen. So I definitely have experience in HRR as I mentioned before

Just stop at this point, the only thing you know about HRR is on phones and it's so much more than that. Come to me, when you actually have experience instead a phone site...

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2020It looks smoother. But also kill the battery way faster. So... moreI am getting 7-7.5hrs SOT with QHD@120hz and getting 8.5-9hr SOT with 1080p@120hz.
No 120hz phone is dying within 3hrs.

iH8allFanboys, 20 Oct 2020It's called the Samsung Galaxy Note 9....oh noooooon i... moreLol I knew you didn't have a HRR Phone.
Its usually people who are stuck at 60hz, who are making the most noise about HRR not being all that.

I've also used Galaxy Note 9,then switched to IPhone 11 pro max, then finally settled on the OP8 pro. The user experience from 60hz iPhone to 120hz OnePlus was night and day.
The software on OnePlus being smoother than every other Android phone was a bonus on top of that.

HRR when you plug it into a monitor is different from the one you experience operating with your touch on a smartphone.
Your opinions are dismissed as you have zero experience using HRR on smartphone.

Which works very well with Xbox Game Pass, tho I wouldn't mirror the screen. This is where I actually give props for Samsung and their DeX software

Isn't 120hz not always on anyway? I'm pretty sure the iPad Pro (which is the only 120hz Apple product I can thing of) varies the refresh rate automatically. IDK, but I assume most other 120hz mobile devices do the same. If so, I doubt I'd even want to have 120hz unless it was going to be on all the time.

Also Android needs HRR just to be able to scroll smoother lol. Apple fixed that problem a long time ago without HRR

Thanks to Microsoft and their game pass, mobile gaming is about to reach a new level and HRR will be a factor next year.

                                AHAHHAAHAHAHAHA FAKE NEWS that's great

No, it has not been perfected otherwise ALL ANDROID devices should have it. (Listen) What I mean is since OnePlus/Oppo has 1440p/120Hz THAT SHOULD BE THE 2020 STANDARD right? Not everyone is there yet. So there's work to do(or maybe everyone else is waiting to bring their superpower 120hz/144hz 1440p phones next year...JUST LIKE APPLE) so please stop spreading your fake news. Just like every droid fanboy on this site

It's only useful in games (shooter/sports/racing games really) and there's not that many on in the mobile world and barely support 120hz. Everything else 60hz

DroidBoye, 13 Oct 2020It's a misconception about HRR screens that they use t... moreNot really. They do take power especially now that gaming is now more of a factor. Not only mobile games are blowing up but now there are more choices: Game Pass, Stadia(Ewww) Steam, etc, and playing those games while trying to match the frames to prevent tearing takes quite a bit of power. I have a Note 9 and it just eats battery life.

But you're absolutely right tho, Apple could have implemented adaptive RR to manage battery but I guess they weren't able to figure it out this time. Also, that phone you're talking about... it's not about to be $250 anymore since now all of Qualcomm parts are going up next year due to 5G

patoka, 12 Oct 2020How is that an excuse? It's an option and people can t... moreSooooo why does Samsung only have 120Hz on 1080p mode and not 1440p on their S20 and Note 20 Ultra lineup? The only way you're gonna get that is with the Fold 2 5G and that's even more expensive. Why settle for when you want the best? Also, GSMarena has proven that it does in fact take battery life. There have been multiple tests that show that.

OnePlus 8 Pro/Oppo Find 2X Pro are the ONLY phones out with 1440p/120hz(and surprisingly has a great battery so why not Apple and OTHERS can do that?). Others are either 120/144hz 1080p or 1440p 60Hz. I would rather have Apple jump on 120hz then settling with 90hz. Either way, they would have hated for either one by Android fanboys
