Chinese offer very affordable phones, but they are not versatile as Apple or Samsung flagships.
Simply because people are used to these two phones.
Apple's biggest market is it's home country, there was a recent article where it started American teens are only buying Iphones and none bother buying Samsung phones.
Just imagines, if that's the case for even mighty giant like Samsung, Then it's games over for Chinese OEMS.
Then there is no also the case of unnecessary sanctions against Chinese OEMS.
They simply can't wins anything when all odds are aginst them.
Yes Apple haven't been “innovating” but their badge value is worth trillions, even if Apple completely stops innovating, people will keep buying their phones.

Chinese OEM's are the only ones in the business innovating.
Apple is dead in the water and so is Samsung (apart from Foldables).
Apple has been dead in the water since 2010 and will probably never come back to life again. They only play catch-up and implement multi-year old tech.
