A SoC has complete processor for image processing. The AI chip is used for prediction. Like what type of battery usage the user do, what app the user uses frequently. The only thing AI do in image is predicting what it's seeing currently and try to apply effect. And being honest that AI take mode sucks in real life except for a few common things.
Even if we take AI is great at taking picture current NPUs from any brand can recognize 10000+ photos per second.
Sure it's overkill for photo.

Apples hardwares(CPU) are slower but the iPhone design and camera and battery quality and their ios system are first(a lot better than Android phones) it's the other way round now. Android phones CPU maybe not as fast as the iPhone. But Android phones camera and battery quality, the phone design and Android system is slightly better than the iPhone.

Huawei also has the best power efficient chip that's why their battery is very good.
Huawei has the best ISP of any phone, it is evident ny their standard auto mode night shots that outperformed competitors night mode.
Ai performance, it is the best.
It also has the best signal, Wi fi, modem or 5G. Huawei phones have the best signal receiving of any phone.

And the battery doesn't degrade that fast even after 2 years of heavy use as well as the fast charging at 40W. Why? Sofyware optimization. My phone already learnt my behavior since i use the phone. It closes apps that i don't need and preserve ones that i need. So it is an win win.

5g performance and signal strength will probably be the main advantage over the snapdragon 865. The 5g performance of the Kirin 990 5g seems to be much better than snapdragon 865 phones already at least according to real user reviews. There will be so few of these chips though that they won't really matter much
