Is that the only thing all manufacturer possess to justify absence of any meaningful innovation?
The last meaningful commercial innovation was to make all phones glass made, because the only logical reason to upgrade one brick to another if the former one shattered.
The last technical innovation was the last year's foldables, and before that I can't even remember. I would say XDA/MDA/VPA HTC, the first available smartphone on the market back in 2002.
But who cares, let's compare benchmarks using words like "smash", "game changer", "killer" etc.

Kirin 9000 will be a decent chip but a CPU core gen behind the next gen QC and Samsung chips coming out in March next year.
It will be interesting to see which chipset P50 will use in March.
