I don't know much about networking technologies and hence can't say whether the ISPs of India are lying or not. But they did gave the reason of "better 4G connectivity" by disabling 3G services, forcing me to buy a new phone (you can Google it, if you want). I guess that will also happen with 4G, too.

Most of the times you will see avrg speed is around 2-5 mbps only. Disabling 3G should not affect 4G Speed. So in my view, 5G is of no use and instead companies should have tried to ensure that each and every single user is getting at least 50 mbps speed on 4G at any given point of time anywhere in the city or remote area also. We will see 5G speed is not even touching 15-20 and you will find companies are now trying to sell 6G.

In India, in order to provide better 4G speed and availablity, all of the telecom vendors have disabled 3G spectrum. So, it either 2G or 4G. A 3G phone can't connect in 3G nowadays. So, in India, latest internet technology is not an option, but a necessity. That's why I thought of similar conditions in your country, too.

Unfortunately it is not sold in my country (Australia) but as far as I know, it may be available to some local Phone shops. I need to find it out and have a look at the phone but that's not a bad option. Let's see. And as I mentioned, 5G is just illusion. Like no one gets even 50% (or may be 25%) of 4G speed everywhere at any given point of time, similarly, people will never get even 1% of 5G speed at any given point of time (which will be 100 mbps).

SShreyas, 16 Oct 2020Do you know that I am writing to you on a 2014 HTC Desire 8... moreThanks. With my age already crossed 40, I am trying to keep things better for near future when it comes to health. Apart of harmful radiation of Microwave or Bluetooth, one of the biggest reason of not using Bluetooth or in-ear earphones (even wired ones) that their shape is not very comfortable to me and I don't like something is fixed into my ear canal. Yeah. Not many are worried about Health but for me it's one of the priority. I am Ok to use older phones. As far as 5G is concern, 1st thing is is hardly available and have very limited coverage. 2nd, the kind of speed it claims, you won't get even if there is 100% 5G coverage. In fact even 1% of its maximum speed may not be available to all places even with 100% shift to 5G in next 10 years also. So having 5G for speed won't make any difference. And most of all, 5G will eat your battery like anything. It will take only cpl of hours (read 3-4 hours) on 5G that your battery will be down from fully charged 100% to 10-15% if 5G is in use and on. Alternate may be to have much bigger battery which means you may see even Phones are having 400-500 grams weight in near future. Currently many 5G phones are already having 220-250 grams weight anyway.

Why don't you invest in a future proof (5G enabled) phone rather than a 4G phone?

Just try phones of Sony. They are criminally underrated. They are actually very well built, well-optimized phones with best possible camera solution and a 4K display.

I use a two year old Nokia 8 Sirocco, a 6 year old HTC, and a 11 years old Nokia X6 as my primary, secondary and a mp3 player respectively. So, I was curious to know what exactly "productive" task you do on your phone that need to shed 1000 dollars every year on a flagship, that my phones are not capable of?
              Just curious, you know.

AnonD-961247, 16 Oct 2020Yes. Hence we don't use Microwave at all. I don't... moreDo you know that I am writing to you on a 2014 HTC Desire 816G. So, I am not the one who keeps upgrading his phone every two or three years. Purchasing a phone means that it can be used for a minimum of 5-6 years with ease, regardless of build quality.
Coming back to whatever you said. Man, I can't argue any further after know how health conscious you are. Keep it up. But the harsh reality is that there are very less people who would prefer wired over wireless earphones. And now that wireless earphone are getting cheaper and cheaper day by day, it is better for smartphone manufacturers to start utilising that space of jack in providing bigger batteries.

At least not for the kind of usage we have. I am using 835 SOC and it is fine and I don't see any issue at all even I am using for 3 years. And I am sure if I upgrade to S10, which has 855 Chip, it will not have any issue for 4-5 years too.

SShreyas, 15 Oct 2020Ohh. Bluetooth harms me. Okay. DO YOU KNOW THAT FOOD PROCE... moreYes. Hence we don't use Microwave at all. I don't have any in my house too. Phones emit radiations which is harmful that's why there are some good practices should be followed like keep it away while sleeping. Use Earphones while taking etc. And Surely Bluetooth is not one of the recommended ways to stop harmful radiations. You can carry on with your Bluetooth headset. I am perfectly fine with not using it and don't have greed to upgrade the phone in every 6 months. Companies now launch 2-3 phones in a year and no one can keep upgrading them in every 6 months. Though, there are many who has plenty of money to do so but I am not one of them.

AnonD-961247, 15 Oct 2020Is it? How come using 3.5 mm Earphones is 2015-2016 thing? ... moreOhh. Bluetooth harms me. Okay.
DO YOU KNOW THAT FOOD PROCESSED/ BAKED IN A MICROWAVE IS CARICINOGENIC?
Would you stop using it now?
DO YOU KNOW, YOUR PHONE EMITS HARMFUL RADIATION?
                      Would you stop using it?
Come on. At least, give some relevent point, man.

About sound quality. If you can spend $400-$500 for a phone, then even spending half of their price can get you a decent headphone which will last longer than your smartphone.

And, charging a Bluetooth headphone/earphone will last at least 2-3 days, unless you are the one who listens to high volume music.

Lastly, I also have a lot of Symbians and Windows Phones. But I don't crying carrying them and asking their manufacturers to restart their support because I am having them. It's not their problem that you maintain a collection of wired earphones

AnonD-940827, 14 Oct 2020And warranty gone. Yes, enjoy. Even if I break/brick my phone, at will still cost a LOT less than OnePlus.
                        Enjoy

                          1. Poor camera performance in real world

Well, I am perfectly Okay Not To Buy these so called Flagship phones without 3.5mm Jack and with 200-220 grams weight and rather prefer to buy 2 years phones with these qualities. As long as phone is working fine, I don't see any reason to change it even in 5 years. So far, I have been keeping my phone for average 3 years and even if I change it next year and buy S10, I can very well keep that too til 2026 or so easily :)

You may not see any effect in next 2-3 or 5-10 years but they will visible after 20-25 years only.

Do you even know the difference in sound quality from Bluetooth and Wired Headphone? And why should I carry extra earphones and charges and ensure that the Bluetooth Headphone is always charged? 2nd thing, which is the biggest concern for me is the effect on your health by using Bluetooth. Google it and you will never use Bluetooth. Especially effect on your brain due to Radio-Frequency Radiations. Doctors and Scientists clearly says that “If planning prolonged phone calls, the safest alternatives are using the speakerphone feature on your phone and wired headphones,”

3rd thing, I have huge collection of my wired earphones and I don't like to use In-Ear earphones. They all are flat head earphones. Why should I throw them away just because some phone companies decided to copy Apple and removed earphone jack which does not provide any additional value or feature at all.
