Detailed Huawei Mate 40 Pro massive leak describes 12 MP 5x zoom cam, 6.76" display

19 October 2020
No periscope as some earlier leaks suggested. Also, the 50 MP main cam will be aided by a Laser AF + depth sensor hybrid.

Mate series is not known for camera, they are known for the debut of the latest Kirin Chip.
The camera setup is traditionally a slightly downgraded version of the P series.

Periscope has 90 degree placement.

You cannot have fixed 125mm lens without going 90 degrees unless you use very tiny 1/6" or smaller.

Very very suspicious. Whenever there is a Samsung, Nokia or an iPhone (basically any non-Chinese brand), all of these commentators are bashing with full force every time over these brands. But when there is a Huawei, you will read the most pleased comments, despite being just early leaks. The software experience that Huawei is providing (since the ban) leave much to be desired for the most people outside of China...
Huawei is desperate trying to sell their HMS phones in the West (+ S.Korea, Japan, etc.), but the vast majority is not interested in these.
And no, Huawei had record sale *only* in mainland China. Outside it's irrelevant now.

There’s no periscope for one, instead a classic 12 MP tele camera with 5x optical zoom (125 mm focal length) will be used
Peter, GSMARENA ! Have you gone mad or Huawei has innovate something great.
I guess later one is not true.
Because 5x telephoto lens need at least 15mm space.

They put the physical volume rocker back. Good decision.

C'mon!

We know that this isn't a massive leak.

Bahahaha!

Huawei deliberately gave this info to someone to raise buzz and conversation for the Mate 40 series before official announcement and hope that it can still some some attention from the extremely sold out iPhone 12 series.

Ugly phone yet from Huawei!

Bahahaha!

LG Superfan, 19 Oct 2020What's the difference between Periscope and Telephoto ... morePeriscope zoom and telephoto zoom do the same but are just designed different, the telephoto zoom is set at a certain fixed zoom, where as I think can zoom in graduations .

So a periscope zoom might add slightly more variable usability

Phone guy 13, 19 Oct 2020Wow that camera design looks nice although case makers bewa... moreWhat's so difficult about making a case for this?

What's the difference between Periscope and Telephoto anyways? So far all phones having 4X or more zoom have periscope lens
And I don't think Mate 30 Pro E will have GMS unless it uses Kirin 980 and Android 9, P30 Pro NE was just P30 Pro with more storage so obviously GMS wouldn't be a problem
Anyways leaks are way too scarce right now which is quite strange

>shows a periscope looking lens on upper left camera on the next pict.

Kudos for huawei for not following the ugly camera-island design trend. This symmetrical design looks pretty.

Looks like an original iPod. Camera looks like the scroll wheel.

All apps that I need are already there on Appgallery & Petal Search, including banking apps that supported in my country. Its not like the unusable services like Mate 30 launch last year. HMS is growing fast now, and the Petal Search introduction solve a lot of a problem when it comes to apps availability.

Will definitely upgrade my Mate 20 to this.

Dometalican, 19 Oct 2020As someone else pointed out, if you look REAL close on that... morePro+ will have same specs as pro except for telephoto camera which may be the same as p40 pro+

That punch hole always bothers me, and i see no difference between this and a notch

If they are going to put bezel on top and bottom, why not make that top bezel slightly bigger to get rid of the dual punch hole forever?
