            Apple heavily limits third-party repair shops for this. If repairs are cheaper (which is always via third-party), these types of "protectors" at this pricepoints should never exist at all. No wonder why Apple themselves were the main ones that lobbies against right to repair.

                      I'm surprised it's relatively less pricey, as compared to replacing the rear glass of the XS Max, which was like 2X more than this

                        Queue the crapdroid users who comment more on Apple articles than android ones :’D to tell us how much they pay to replace the screens on their fisher price grade phone screens or complain about how this is too much when they don’t even own an Apple device.

                          Because it's glass and not ceramic. Apple even uses "sapphire" glass that isn't sapphire, because it still scratches like glass. So yeah, new releases, new fancy names that mean nothing.
