They have some absolutely incredible people working in their organisation. Just look at the number of employees. AMD has thousands on their books. Intel has HUNDRED of THOUSANDS on their books. All very hardworking and talented in their respective fields.

They will be back. Bet on it.

Perhaps they needed some cashflow to compete with Nvidia and later on, ARM ... But I'm pretty sure they will be defeated once Apple ditches them :/

Intel have pretty decent SSD, the most popular one in my place have half the speed of the competitor like Samsung or Adata topshelf but it is sold in much affordable price.

Either they want to focus their development arm into CPU+GPU or they want to move to different tech like whatever in Optane.

Adul Al Salami Kebab, 20 Oct 2020Very poor sales? Intel is one of the top dog in SSD production and their product is considered "reliable" on par with Samsung, so I don't think it's poor sale.

Seems that it will never happen.

I bought an Intel SSD a while back. It was very reliable but didn't quite play nicely with my AMD system. It froze from time to time which never happened with my Kingston SSD.

This means Hynix owns the Optane tech now? Also why would Intel sell off segment that's getting most interesting as HDD's are on their way out?
