Google responds to recent anti-competitive lawsuit

22 October 2020
Google claims the lawsuit doesn’t tell the whole story and rebuts that the lawsuit does nothing to help consumers.

When Firefox changed the default search engine to Yahoo (because they got paid) in 2014 people stopped using Firefox and switched to Chrome because Google is the default there.
On the one hand people really don't seem to know how to change the search engine in a browser but on the other hand prefer Google so much that they change browser instead of using anything else. --> This lawsuit is stupid and anti consumer because consumers want Google no matter what.

P.S.: If it wasn't for Googles market power the US wouldn't have been able to kill Huawei like that.

The part of which we deliberately scroll down and hit "I Agree" without reading. Well part of it mentions that if you hit I agree you also allow the company (google) to sell some of your information :) Maybe next time read the user's agreement before hitting the I agree button. Time wasting but informative.

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2020And so...?Either they are upset that they are not getting any of the money for their "data", or they think that nobody should be legally allowed to profit off anything that doesn't come from them. For example, if I tell you what my favorite color is you shouldn't be allowed to sell that information to someone. It's ridiculous.

LOL when ordinary people work hard over the years, facing so much hardships building a small company to become successful, with little to no help from the government, yet, when
you make it big, these sorry grade a holes will always penalise you under the banner of protecting the "consumers" and anti competitiveness.

Governments are filled by useless, lazy, unproductive and greedy people milking/fining the public just to line their pockets.

Our data is collected, farmed and sold by many different source so privacy is an illusion and has been for some time, predating the internet, do I care if Google cash in, not even slightly.
I do have issue with how the google search engine has gotten worse due to the money focus, but have tried several alternatives and still google is the best for me.
This law suit is nothing more then a political game to try and distract on one hand and on the other pressure large companies to do what the persons in power want them to do i.e. dont block their tweets.
If your concern is privacy then understand from the point of birth, when your heal was pricked for the blood test a case file on you was started, every post, comment, tweet, search, purchase via digital transaction is all gathered. either deal with it or live under a rock. mediocre efforts like using a different browser or search engine in the grand scheme of things is nothing more then a self indulgent illusion.

Is there any other alternative equally as viable as Google Search? If a browser had another search engine set up as default, I will honestly look for Google and use it instead.

So what that Google is paying companies to set their default search engine to Google? Why is DoJ so upset about companies making investments?

Google is making solid points. That's like buying a shelf in a supermarket. That's also like buying space on a website to advertise something. Or a billboard. Or renting a parking spot.
