NomiHK786, 28 Oct 2020"We sell great products" - LMAO 🤣👌🏼 More like &#... moreIt's so hilarious reading such lame comments here on GSMArena non stop where everyone paints Apple users as these mindless drones who just buy everything Apple without any thinking at any price. I've been Windows and Android user till 2 years ago when I bought an iPhone after years of reading such garbage. I bought iPhone with no expectations, I just wanted to get away from Google and only mobile device was still standing in my way of achieving that. So I bought iPhone XR at the time and said to myself, I'm doing this, I'll somehow adapt along the way. And now, 2 years later, I almost can't see myself buying another Android phone again. Sure specs on paper are still great, but experiencing iOS for 2 years and I love it. I also love everything about now rather aging iPhone XR. It has amazing display, amazing camera, amazing sound, it's really fast, battery lasts me entire day easily. And what I love the most is I've received 2 major OS updates since purchase and I know I'm good for 2-3 more years. And I receive them the moment it gets launched. Opposed to months of waiting on Android just to in the end be left out from latest Android version for some really lame reasons made up by that vendor. The experience as whole has been so great so far I've decided to stick around with XR until Apple makes notchless design when change will be really radical change and XR will do its service by that time. But notch doesn't actually bother me even now... It's just there and I don't care about it because I love FaceID. And then I'll most likely buy another iPhone despite few minor annoyances. I salivate over many awesome hardware spec'd Android phones and then get put off by stinking software experience in terms of lazy OS updates and very short term support. If Google forces vendors to deliver guaranteed 5 years and change Android so it can be updated faster, then I might reconsider. But until that happens, very much unlikely I'll return to Android.

Again, Android phones are always great on hardware side of things, but severely lack on software side. iPhones on the other hand are well balanced on both sides and that makes them more appealing, especially for people who like to stick with phones for years and not be forced to run outdated OS.

[deleted post]you think that a company that takes advantage of the "ignorance" of people would still be selling products?

Unlike your BELOVED android manufacturers that love to put thousands of specs on their phones, apple knows that ain't nobody care about those thousands of specs.

IpsDisplay, 28 Oct 2020Lol apple saying they don't build profiles on peo... morewOw and can you show me the evidence? That's right, you have no evidence.

Remember, apple still uses your BELOVED IPS display, sir.

My prediction is that this search engine will end up like Apple Maps.

Shanti Dope, 28 Oct 2020Google has pretty much been established to the whole world ... moreIt's not about world domination. It's literally their own devices. Which will be funny to observe as Google won't be a dominating search engine on Apple devices anymore. Which is a rather big chunk of market share. And will also put Apple in position of problems like Microsoft faced with search engines and browsers. Though again, their ecosystem, their rules. It's understandable that Windows comes with Edge and Bing by default. And it's understandable that MacOS/iOS comes with Safari and iSearch or whatever it'll be called as default. Or Google as default in Chrome. For as long as you can use something else that you personally prefer.

IpsDisplay, 28 Oct 2020Lol apple saying they don't build profiles on peo... moreDuckDuckGo doesn't build profiles of users and yet it's really good. Been using it exclusively for 2 years and haven't had a need to use anything else.

Also there is a big difference between Google profiling users and Apple profiling users. Google does it so they can sell ads from 3rd parties better. Apple does it so people buy more of their devices and services. Profiling your own customers has been a thing for decades if not centuries. It's literally, sell users what they are asking for the most. Sometimes demand is subtle and you have to figure it out on your own. Google on the other hand is profiling users to sell targeted ad space. As in, if you're super interested in cars and you Google them non stop, you'll be seeing car ads a lot within Google's eco system. I'd say it's quite different than Apple. Apple does it so that their eco system is self sufficient and they don't have to depend on anyone. It's why they dumped Intel, it's why they make their own browser, it's why they have their own operating system, their own App Store, their own virtual assistant and now their own search engine. It's bad business depending on 3rd parties and if you do have to, you'll always have lower margins long term than if you invest in your own solution and not have to split profits with anyone else.

We all should switch from google.

Cannot trust any big tech companies including Apple. Tim Cook might be a decent bloke himself, but in the absence of alternatives to Google, the antitrust lawsuit and investor pressure, I would not be surprised one bit if Tim caves in and starts keeping user profile on Apple servers.

Oh well, atleast it is much MUCH better than Huawei secretly selling private data of its users to CCP.

Google has pretty much been established to the whole world as the universal standard source of all resources in the entire web. I highly doubt Apple could turn their own search engine to be as reputable and widely used as how much Google is right now, but given the amount of money they have from overly pricing their products over the years, this could be possible, as many people still believe that their products are worth it anyway.

"We sell great products" - LMAO 🤣👌🏼
More like 'We sell products to those who will pay £999ish without thinking why" 😂

                                > It's not clear how Apple could create a successful search engine without building a profile around a user's browsing habits or using that customer's stored data on the iPhone as a means to better search results.
You don't need to build a profile of someone to offer them what they need. Sure, you can link to Amazon listings when one searches for products, like DuckDuckGo does or just spurt out links while the person rambles through them to find what he was looking for. I honestly think they could just partner with DDG who already use Apple Maps when looking for addresses. It'll save them money in the long run.

Lol apple saying they don't build profiles on people lololol

How can this company troll millions of people so easily
