Correction every Samsung A and M Series this year and last year and OS's up to 9.0 Pie will get additional 3 years worth of software updates upto android 12 and 13. And also flagship too. Just like Xiaomi's MIUI, Oneplus and Google OS's

If you are going to compare it with Samsung , Realme, Vivo or Oppo midtier phones , its actually a blessing that if you are able to get a year of their software support, and Im not sure if you heard the news, but they will actually have already will be releasing android 10 to redmi 8t. Which a case in point, in listening to their consumers.

xiaomi is good in hardware and software, it is if you buy their highend devices. i'm Mi 10 ultra user has get MIUI 12 updates 4 times this October. No ads inside this phone, its periscope and the night mode camera is satisfying ,etc
If you buy cheap xiaomi, then you get bunches of Ads and short software updates :v Also get macro depth camera as usual :v

As i gave an example with the Note 8/8T, updates are more of a afterthought at Xiaomi. And it will get only one single major update (Android 10). No wonder, since Xiaomi brings every week a new phone in the market. They themselves lost the count...
Samsung on the contrary has changed since 2019. Security updates will come even for the cheapest models every 3 months. And 2 years major Android updates for all low to mid tier models (M and A-series until A41, will get 2 major Android updates). Mid- to high-end models will get 3 years of major Android updates (A51 and higher, Note-, S-, Z-, Fold-series).
Sony (flagship models), OnePlus (flagship models) and Google are get 3 Android updates too.

Redmi Note 8/ 8T is still with Android 9. The last security update is from last August. Android 11 came officially out. It's almost 2021 and still no Android 10 for Redmi Note 8/8T in sight. Android 11 won't come to this device at all.
