They are actually banning the regional publisher Tencent Games, along with other chinese companies like Netease because of the rising tensions between India and China. PUBG itself is owned by PUBG Corp. (under Bluehole, which is from South Korea).

Yes my friend Plan is to cut all import from china but step by step.
Understand following chronology to get better idea.
1. By banning chinese apps Indian government has stopped financial flow to chinese companies
2. Indian government has already banned the import of toys, plastics, rubbers, glass and hundreads of many such products.
3. Recently they have banned the import of electricals goods like Air conditions, televisions etc
Only the import of Pharmaceutical raw materials , chemicals, semiconductors, electronics, rare earth metals and similar such goods is allowed which can not be produced in india in short run.
All this has helped us india achieve trade surplus first time on last 10 years where export is more than import.
Tell me what is wrong with all this.

I think this news is more like Tencent games withdrawing from Distributing PUBG in India and being returned to original trademark holders which are infact Korean. It might an attempt to bring back PUBG to India through some different distribution company
