31 October 2020
Overall, the inners of the Pixel 5 look nice and orderly and should make for good repairability.

Qwerty , 31 Oct 2020Crappy hardware 🤦‍♂️ damn! Can’t understand why people espe... moreNothing about this hardware is "crappy". Maybe not the best on paper, but definitely not crappy, and Pixel 5's hardware and software together work better than bunch of Snapdragon 865/865+ devices.

Mine frequently gets very hot doing the simplest of things, nothing particularly intensive, so I can see more of them developing the gaps.

abigfanoftechs, 31 Oct 2020Pixel phones hardware/build are average. Even budget Xiaomi... moreThey have literally only been making phones for 5 years. And trying to break into a market that only buys samsung and apple (Together account for 80% of us sales). It's more pathetic of the us who buys like sheep really. Most ppl don't even know about the pixel phones cuz they only look at those two brands. When ppl say android they think that it means samsung. And with LG taking up about 10% themselves.. these companies that are out for decades now. For the pixel to magically be a top brand won't happen like that.

I bought mine (Sage green) from Germany and it's flawless in terms of build quality - no creaks or gaps at all. The QC could be better, but it is what it is. My only complain is about the display's viewing angles - there is a blue-ish tint if viewed from extreme angles, but on day-to-day tasks it's not a problem (at least for me).
I'm blown away from the battery life though - 5h SoT with active BT and navigation and I still have 54% battery left!

Got mine 2 days ago and do not have the screen gap at all. I got the just black model. I wonder if the 2 week delay was to resolve that issue for US shipments.

iPusak Gaoq, 31 Oct 2020This is what happen when a well renowned software companies... moreLiterally no pixel.phone was not made by a reputable company who makes phones. Lg, motorola, htc... Lol. When u don't know u don't know.

This is what happen when a well renowned software companies decide they better off assemble their own products rather than collaborates with a well renowned companies for the sake of cutting cost.

It would be a surprise if they don't have enough space for cables without expandable memory, wihout headphone, jack, withoud dedicated faceID or radar hardware and with smaller batteries than the real flagship competitors. They also lack periscope cameras and the SoC also let them to have more space as it's a mid-range one smaller than those flagships with the fastest external modems.

Also their sensors are smaller than direct competitors, with old camera sensors. All is small today in those Pixels less the price in relation of the hardware you get for it.

Crappy hardware 🤦‍♂️ damn! Can’t understand why people especially enthusiasts buy this junk. Hardware and software should compensate hand in hand. Miss the good old days when there’s still Nexus smartphones...

Garbage build quality of the pixel continues.

Was there a gap on this phone, and was it the same, better or worse after reassembly?

damn the vibration motor on Pixel 5 is not like the one on Pixel 3 or 4 :/ really disappointed although i will still gonna buy it hopefully vibration motor is better than the one on my Oneplus 5

Pixel phones hardware/build are average. Even budget Xiaomi phones have better build.
A Google phone never made the top 10 best sellers in the USA. That's pathetic for a US company.

Looks like someone in QC department is sleeping during their work. Google should offer free replacement for the affecting devices. Such a shame really. I can understand if that was coming from some unknown cheap brand, but Google? They didn't even produced that many Pixel 5 phones.

Well, Pixels phones were never good at hardware stuff. They always market their software and lately their cameras.
Sadly, for them, just about every Android manufacturer has steady software and good cameras on their models now. And some come cheaper than Pixels, too.
Also, another issue, is that Google phones never had a loyal fanbase, like other manufacturers have. So, it is a lot easier for a past owner of a Pixel phone, to just ditch this company and buy something else. Especially nowadays.
So, I am not seeing a bright future for Pixel phones.
The only good thing is that they are selling in USA (including through carriers), where companies like Xiaomi, Realme, Huawei, etc. are not.
