The Xbox Series S has 364 GB available for games, the rest of the 512 GB SSD is reserved

The Series X also reserves a portion of its SSD for the OS and certain functions. You can expand storage using custom Seagate cards.

We all know xbox exclusives, how much quality those possess. Seies x has stronger cpu and gpu but buying a series s is utterly stupid.

Your problem is that you are being a fanboy (I would guess Sony) so you are not being honest here. The series S is a bargain, no amount of blabbering by your side will take that away. Personal preferences are another matter, I won't touch it

BestPhoneGuy, 05 Nov 2020Dang. They're really gonna scam a lot of ppl with this... moreWait a Minute I see your a fanboy huh. You do know if you do your research xbox has nearly the same amount of exclusives as playstation. And the series s isn't that bad. game sizes are litteraly 30% smaller lol. Devs can target 4k if they want on the series s... But at the end of the day both are great budget consoles. And you

Anonymous, 05 Nov 2020he also didnt mention you can swap out ps5 ssd with any ssd... moreNo you can't, you can swap for ps4 games for ps5 games you need proprietary ssd which only ps5 supports of its fast speed.

joe nodden, 05 Nov 2020No.No? You don't think that original peripherals to consoles are typically very overpriced for what they have been? Really? PS Memory cards ring any bells?

Samsung 980 pro Series, Corsair Force Series MP600, Gigabyte Aorus Gen4 2280 are not cheap drives compared to the expansion for Xbox. They are pretty equivalent in price, market dependant of coure, and they are just bare m.2 modules with no case and and Samsung's case not including cooling. That a simplified card-like solution costs a little bit more is very understandable compared t the m.2 drives suitable for many purposes from pre-built desktops, laptops as well as DIY PCs and more.

If you really think that any NVMe SSD is equivalent, like Intel's 665p or Crucial P1, then think again.

Add to that no Disk Drive and Proprietary Expandable storage costing $200+++ and half the performance of Series X / PS5 which means its better to just buy the Series X/PS5 instead that can perform 4k@60fps/@120fps.

this is why you buy a pc

I'm waiting to receive my PS5 in 2 weeks time to check the vacant height of the M2 bay, because in order for the add-in SSD to operate at PCI-E gen 4 speeds, it is ideal to use it with a heatsink. Otherwise thermal throttling would kick in and the speeds would be reduced to PCI-E gen 3 speeds to avoid permanent damage (so I've read).

So it's actually a good deal in that sense, as original peripherals are typically quite costly for what they are.

512 GB = 476 GiB since Windows measures space available as GiB, the Xbox does as well. So about 24% is used or reserved by the system. The OS probably uses about 60GiB, the rest is likely reserved for user files and caching.

It's only enough for COD warzone and cold war lol

BiyoBiyo JunJun, 05 Nov 2020still can used normal external hardisk , right?Indeed! You can use a regular external harddrive to play backwards compatible games, or store the next generation games. The only caveat with next generation games is that you can only play them from the fast nvme storage, so you'll have to transfer them back before playing. The backwards compatible library doesn't have this restriction.

They're really gonna scam a lot of ppl with this... moreTotally agree if you are going to buy all those games, whose sum amount will *very quickly* add up to costing more than the console itself. However, everyone that is on a tight budget and would rather have a set monthly fee to play a library of games (like Netflix) than struggle to buy just one game every three months (nextgen games are that expensive), then there is no question why the Series S is the system to get: Game Pass is by far the best service of this kind without breaking the bank, and the Series S is still an entry-point to the latest generation.

Sony fans always want to avoid talking about it, like their Ps4pro is faster haha. I got a G-shock 1TB SSD USB-C drive, impressive speeds.
I get my Seagate 1TB expansion card for Xbox in a few days but gotta wait 3 weeks more for the Series X. I dont think the expansion is so expensive, because im not a GA regular who love to post like "its must have 4TB internal NVMe-pcie4 storage and cost max $99, expansion drives must be less than $10 per TB, and oh im 11 years old and love my Oppo phone".

There is a single use case where they are significantly faster than Gen3 and as usual this is large single file linear transfer. For all other purposes they have no real world advantage over Gen3 - especially game like loads. As usual - just getting a PC is by far the better option.
