Good idea. Focus on next Xperia 10 III @ 400-500 EUR. SD7xx SOC + 5G. 21:9 OLED (FHD, high brightness, 120 Hz), wide + ultra-wide camera 12 MP, good selfie camera, 4000 mAh, Android 11, IP 65/68. Work on standard camera software and include settings for more So-Me friendly settings (high contrast, fake night-shots, always on HDR etc.). Reserve some marketing money to buy a high score at DxO-mark.

Anyway, this phone would cost between $450-500.
Similar price they sell xperia 5.
Reason Sony no longer has new phones in the price range of $400-800.

Jack Frost, 05 Nov 2020Why not? There are midrange chipsets that support 5G. 😬True but there are options out there in that segment.

Obviously 10 iii will have 690, L series with mediatek and two flagships with 875.

Smaller midrange Xperia with Snapdragon 7 series would be such a hit. Something like a cheap 5 II. God. Instabuy from me

An Xperia 10 II Plus with the 765 chipset would be pretty cool.

KrazyDave, 05 Nov 2020In other words Sony aren't gonna make midrangers ... moreWhy not? There are midrange chipsets that support 5G. 😬

Good. Focus on the flagships. The second generation 1 and 5 are very good, now it needs a bit of polish to be class leading.

so next year l series will use 5g chip too, like new sd 4xx 5g or mediatek dimensity.

                      In other words

Sony aren't gonna make midrangers anytime soon.

This is a good decision, considering the premium price of Sony device...

Using a 4G chipset would be a shame.
Because it would be a great product, but can't operate at maximum

I hope other manufacture follow SONY footstep.

Could be that they're considering sd765/750 for te 10 II plus as they are both 5g chips. I wouldnt put it past them using sd690 either, and charge 400$ or more for it.

the heading is a bit misleading, Xperia 10 ii is already released (april 2020), it's xperia 10 ii plus which apparently is a longer /bigger version that been cancelled

The Xperia 5 II was an amazing phone

Good and vice decision around the 5g.
Bad decision not making a midranger.
Personally i really don't care what Sony release or not release.... Not my kind a phone.

Not only on 5G,but also on premium prices. Sony doesn't want to make an cheap phone cause many people will be surprised if they can give an €400 phone. They want to keep their oremium reputation.

That's the way it should be... No going backwards.
