I do still believe huawei will succeed and prevail over the google.
In chinese and India they will be the nimber 1 in maybe 2-3 years by brute force same which Trump used past 3 years andfrm then many other companies will join the Huawei Harmony train just bbbecause the Hawei is the biggest 5G network in the world and the 4G networks soon or later will be living only in the history books same like 3G and 3Gs now.

When Harmony OS becomes mature, China can just limit or ban selling of phones with any other OS in the country, thus leaving Chinese customers no choice. That's over 1 billion of active daily users, who will accept whatever OS or service the government orders them to use, much like they accepted their alternatives instead of banned Google/Youtube/Twitter/etc.

Do not underestimate Chinese government. I can see Huawei succeeding in this and I will easily switch to Huawei once the product becomes compelling and global to an extent.

Why do people still push themselves to buy Huawei..This phone is purely made for chinese market once google stuff was being pulled from Huawei.
And their Mate 40 pro costs much much more expensive than rivals...

But whether Huawei will still go with Google or forge its own path is still an unknown although Huawei has said in the past that it's eager to work with Google again. I personally hope they don't or, at least, make Harmony OS as option for their phones.

People seem to be forgetting Bada OS, which Samsung (of all companies) pushed and gave up on. Bixby (albeit an app) is going down the same route.
Agreed, this will likely see traction in China where Google isn't a thing. Chinese consumers won't really have much of a choice if this is forced upon them by their biggest phone producer. But outside of China I really doubt it. More so given every non-Chinese country has some sort of suspicion and doubt on Chinese products.

I see them having moderate traction in China since there is no Google there. But outside of it, we've had many big names try to take on Android and fail: Symbian, Blackberry, Windows Phones all had the backings of giants in the Smartphone industry(back in the day anyway) and they've failed. What can Huawei do that is different to allow them success?
