It is irony that the most frequent used app in iOS disappear.

It was a conscious decision to not renew the license and thus remove the app, the same way they removed the Maps app. They want fewer Google apps in iOS. Moreover they don't even need a dedicated YouTube app any more.

It's Google who needs Apple, which is why they are now rushing to release their own app so they can earn through the ads.

Actually, we the consumers, are the ones losing out in these battles. The hatred one company has for the other is now showing in their products. I think apple is the biggest hater of the lot and does not believe in in "live and let live" policy.

But they were keen to know the contacts icon on iOS resembles that on Touchwiz..and surprisingly other phones are rectangular(pun intended!)

Indeed. The mobile web app is actually quite good and works well in any modern mobile browser. It makes sense for an "app" to be just a browser link as online video is already bandwidth-heavy.

Could it be an indication Apple is so obsessed with the court rooms that they forgot to renew that license? Apple's stubbornness will inevitably cascade its grave effects to the end-users.

Well, I guess this is better, I'm kinda annoyed every time I clicked on a youtube link and it takes me to the youtube apps instead of just the web, and for some video it's just won't play on the apps (something like not available on mobile device etc).
