I definitely understand the rise of the tablet since it offers the on-the-go flexibility that a normal laptop doesn't have, but Chromebook? Really? At this point, I rather get myself a Windows tablet instead. Even the first-gen Surface Go with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage didn't cost a lot.

The best keyboard (SwiftKey) was 2-3 years late on iOS.
The best Map application (Google maps) which comes default on Android is thousand times better than stock Apple maps.
I can go on and on.... But you get the idea.

Most of the bugs are on iOS.
Apple leading in crashes while Android leading in marketshare.
          So much for optimization.

After updating everything in Windows update and Microsoft store and installing necessary programs I've disabled everything in control panel and settings that I don't need. Tweaked nvidia settings. After that I've cleaned all temporary files and junk. And finally I've done optimize/defrag. Now it is fast enough and not annoying anymore. If you decide to switch to Windows do this things and enjoy.

It's the same across all devices, including Apple TV vs Android TV.

lol it took them 10 years to deliver basic widgets and app drawer all of which are still half baked and full of bugs.
Even budget devices are embarrassing iOS in terms of software features and ease of use.

3rd party apps are crashing more on iOS than Android. I wonder why? Maybe coz Android is simply more optimized than iOS.
All the Optimization PR campaign from Apple has been badly exposed in the real world.
Handicapped ecosystem of IPad OS will never be as polished as Android.
                Keep dreaming!

There are apps in Android that you can't find on iOS/iPad OS.

Besides the tablet is for my father after he broke his iPad Pro (thanks to its amazing build quality).

I doubt he is interested in doing some presentation or sketching work (which BTW can be done on Android tablets just as well). Just because you prefer your stock Apple apps which you are familiar with, doesn't mean other apps outside that ecosystem aren't good enough.

I'm a long time satis... moreas a lifetime windows user (surface pro 7 atm), i used to think chromebook's were stupid and pointless. Didn't want to spend 500+ on an android tablet because lets face it, gets outdated fast. I already spend enough money on flagship phones. I got a lenovo chromebook duet since it was small, came with kickstand case, and keyboard. I didn't want a laptop style. I definitely have to say, it's not bad. Definitely can't do the amount of things a windows can. But for your web browsing, email, netflix/videos I'd lean towards chromebook. Being able to run android apps on a chromebook was what finally got me to jump in. So for me, netflix/battery life/android apps/portability/cheap. I don't want to waste battery cycle life on my surface pro for netflix while i sleep, or at times webbrowsing.

What a joke, my kids school district started with chromebook. It was so slow that my kid was having trouble login, then they gave everyone an ipad. They however won't let them login through their own devices, aka computers. Stupid is, stupid gets.

CBs are light weight and veer zippy. You can also install Android and Linux programs on cbs. I recently bought a bigger sSD for my Windows laptop and installed W10, Linux Mint, and Chrome OS on it. Windows was by far the slowest. I installed Twister interface on Linux Mint which makes it look like a Mac and a joy to use.

I've never used chromebook. I'm a long time satisfied Windows user. What about chromebook? Is there anything Windows can do that chromebook can't and vice versa?

I am a #1 fan of Chromebooks. Typing this msg on it now.
However, prices are starting to sky rocket recently. Often it cheaper to buy Windows laptops, with better specs, cheaper than Chromebooks.

iOS-Never-Again, 13 Nov 2020Absolutely, tab S7+ is the best tablet of 2020. All round ... moreOn my iPad I like to use Notability and Procreate which I think they are the best of their kind. Lumafusion is the best video editing app on a tablet. And I do all my work on Apple’s Pages and Keynote. iMovie and Clips, also by Apple, can do an amazing job for casual video creation and editing, I have done so many video presentation for my job with them. All those apps cannot be found on Samsung tablets so however hard they try hardware wise, software wise are and will be always far behind the iPad. The other point is that all those apps can run as fast on the very entry iPad that costs a lot less than those pro Samsung tablets.

After all these years Samsung is still unable to break 10 million in tablet sales. This just shows why Samsung can sell so many phones but can't sell many tablets. Their tablet pricing is around same than iPad and iPad can compete and easily win in sales.

That growth represents students and children in most cases.
If you want real work done, PC's are better in every way. Plus, I have my 14" Dell Latitude from company, if I want portability.
Not to mention I paid 500Eur for my PC (without monitor and accessories). And is a gaming PC too, 1080p 50-60 fps with no problem.
I actually thought of buying a Samsung tablet, but when I saw how much is a S7, no way. If anything, better buy a nice Samsung phone with Dex mode and connect it to a large display. 10-12" may seem great size at the beginning, but after couple of months it seems small.
