As much as I want to upgrade to the iPhone 12 mini I won’t. It makes no sense to buy a smartphone without any charger nor earbuds at all! 🤦♂️ Everyone is saying it’s a bargain, better think again. LOL

Traded a 2020 SE for the 12 Mini. Bigger screen, faster chip, 5G and bigger battery. Had no complaints about the 2020's battery , I sure the Mini will be fine. I don't sit and play videos and games all day.

but even they have this days big batteries.

What happened with iPhones don't need a huge battery because they are optimised?
Truth is no matter what they do, the SoC is flagship and will eat it all.
What we need is an Android phone with mid tier SoC, 5.5 - 5.8" amoled screen with a punchole or a tiny notch, no garbage depth cameras to eat space and a little bit thicker bosy to flush the camera bump for the maximum possible battery capacity.

Essen, 14 Nov 2020Being small should be no excuse to put in a small battery. ... moreI don’t think you can increase the battery size by increasing the thickness by a few millimetres. On most iPhones the battery only covers 2/3 of the width and the length. So there will be empty space in the rest of the chassis which can cause structural issues.

Finally, someone realized that not everyone wants a large screen phone. I don't even care if it runs on iOS, this is definitely on my wish list. At this point, Android OEMs should really follow in Apple's footsteps. I really cannot wait for Sony to bring back the Compact name for their future Xperias.

Being small should be no excuse to put in a small battery. Apple could have easily increased thickness by a couple of millimetres, gotten the lens flush with the back and packed in some 500-800 mah (on a conservative side) extra. In any case, it's way better to put in slightly more battery with some thickness than slapping on that ugly, unwieldy smart battery case that Apple peddles.

TFT, 13 Nov 2020Endurance test please. Rest is fine.Yeah pretty much same for me. I’m typing from it. First day with full charge. It’s 4pm. 60% charge left. Got off charger at 7am. Didn’t use much. So not bad. Just normal I think which is fine.
The iPhone 12 normal size I used was getting great battery, like at 11pm that night I was seeing as high as 50%!!

Budget android phones do have larger battery that can last days but most of them are quite large smartphone. Even if they did made compact sized (galaxy s10e and xiaomi mi9 se) the battery endurance is just average. Unless you referring to the compact xperias waaay back then that is both small and have a long lasting battery.
But for this phone probably for people who just wanted a small phone. For compact android phone maybe have to wait for next year though.

Thanks to apple’s later chip and the optimization the mini can deliver very good battery life despite being small. It’s not going to be better than the battery on a larger phone but it will be good to last a whole day. The fact is that at the moment only Apple is capable to bring a small size phone with top end performance because of their chips and iOS. Android needs a lot of ram to run as smooth as aniPhone and it is not optimized meaning that they can’t do what Apple does. Apple once more is ahead.
