Hemedans, 18 Nov 2020I think sd 690 is better than 765 and 750 atleast on paper,... more750 is newer I think.
690 and 750 must be same case of 630/660.

But he never makes comments about the mi note 10 pro announced for 600 euros or mi 10 pro in europe for 1000 euros.

AnonD-731363, 18 Nov 2020Dont forget a 799 or 899 euros pricetag. Or $3000 like Mi Mix Alpha that failed to make market.
That crap was even more expensive than Galaxy Fold 2.

Moto G8 was more expensive.
Almost $300 when announced.
Motorola prices drop much faster than Sony's.
Xperia 1 ii has been available in Taiwan since early June, price is still same.

AnonD-731363, 18 Nov 2020Dont forget a 799 or 899 euros pricetag. I know your intuition and so-called forecasting for that, but even that, that's too early to assume the price for now. Aware, the price hike is there for a new every segment of Sony phones (either L, 10, 5, or 1 series), however, those prices range you "quoted" wouldn't be ideal, especially when it will clash with Xperia 5 II's future price tho, (segmentation people, some people just want a moderate chipset for their phones)...

Yup, my expectation is right about the SD 690 chipset. It could be a worthy competitor to the OnePlus Nord N10 5G and also the LG K92 5G, especially if Sony still retains the IP certification like the 10 ii. That said, I do think that Sony can make a Plus version of the 10 iii using the SD 750G or 765G chipset unless there is a newer replacement coming in.

If they keep all the good of current Xperia 10 II (size, form factor, water resistence, battery life, price...), I'll buy.

I'll continue using the Moto G3 as a nice little music player. Thank you Mr. "Sony makes good mid range phones" for making me think about the issue and search for a fix.

for spec warriors, this is not a "good" phone...
but looking at how good 10ii is and if they market it the way they do (or better) in hk and taiwan (their current "pampered" market) then it might just sell... of course, in sonys sense, that is "breakeven"...
pricewise, they can only put it down if they remove ip certification, reduce gorilla glass protection, oled... which is ofc not so sony...
and the L5? even if it targets "new users" i still will frown over a "notch" just to satisfy bezel haters...

- Xperia L4, with Helio P22, at €180
- to the Moto G8, with Snapdragon 665, at €130
Also, I personally had an Xperia M4 Aqua, and it was a load of crap. This year I bought a Moto G3 for €10 to compare it to, and it has better build quality, cleaner OS, double the storage, and is quicker, even though it has a worse processor. The pictures are looking worse but it doesn't need 3 seconds to take a picture, in that time the subject is often already gone. I guess some things just never change. Only annoyance with the G3 I got is that it sometimes registers a tap when I want to scroll, but that could also be due to the cracked glass idk.
At the time, the M4 Aqua costed €279, the G3 with 16GB about €200.

Anonymous, 18 Nov 2020I know there is an endless crying for better specs, but
... moreMotorola and HMD brought phones with same 665 used by 10 ii for near $250.
But phones with plastic back, gorilla 3 on screen, no IP rating, macro or depth camera and 64GB. $100 more, 10 ii had IP65/68, oled, 128GB, 52mm cam, gorilla 6 and no cutout screen.
Sony admits they have to give more love to midranges, same way they did with M series.
M5 was almost on pair with Z phones.

I know there is an endless crying for better specs, but
Looking at the price of the Xperia L4 being € 180, where competition from Nokia and Motorola is already moving on from the Snapdragon 665 to better things, a Helio P35 just won't cut it at that price, let alone the current P22.
